Now Playing: Spotify Wrapped 2019

Happy Friday ya’ll!

If you’re an avid Spotify user like I am, you know that the end-of-the-year music round-up has been released and I must say that I’m not surprised with the results.

I’ve been sharing my results all over my socials, but I figured, why not share on my blog too!?

Top Artists

bfbb1037-dce4-49da-9a74-c21b56fe9d6c

  1. BLACKPINK – I became a fan in May 2019 and a stan July 2019. I didn’t know much about BP prior to their Coachella performance, but one day I was scrolling through Twitter and then I fell down the rabbit hole. From May to about September they were all I listened to. According to Spotify, I listened to them for a total of 292 hours. That doesn’t include YT streams or Apple Music. Mind you, I never obsessed about KPOP before them.
  2. Ariana Grande – We all know I love Ariana Grande. How can you not? Last year’s “Sweetener” was an amazing album with “God is a woman” and my personal faves, “everytime” and “breathin.”  Then her surprise drop of “thank u, next” had some memorable tracks. Both “7 Rings” and “thank u, next” were iconic. Now, I’m hoping for the AriPink collab to happen soon!
  3.  JENNIE (BLACKPINK) – She literally has one song and I guess I streamed it so many times, but I ain’t mad at this result. “SOLO” was released last year and it’s been doing so well in the charts as a solo KPOP artist. Jennie Kim is my bias and I’m pretty sure I’ll love her forever. One day I hope to see here “SOLO” stage live.
  4. Taylor Swift – I’ve been a fan of Taylor’s since her debut in country pop. But to be honest, I haven’t really enjoyed her past few albums. Then she came out with her “Lover” album and I felt like I was listening to the old Taylor that I loved. “Daylight” was the one song that I had on repeat this year.
  5. Alex Aiono – He’s one of my favorite YouTube artists of this decade. I remember the first video of his that I fell in love with, “One Dance/Hasta El Amanecer”. When he started to sing in Spanish, I literally fell in love and followed him since. Alex released some heartbreaking tracks this year and while I love them, I wonder who broke his heart.

According to Spotify, I’ve listened to artists from 32 different countries!

  1. BLACKPINK (South Korea)
  2. Ariana Grande (US)
  3. Shawn Mendes (Canada)
  4. Sam Smith (UK)
  5. NIKI (Indonesia)

I’m a bit bummed that artists from the Philippines didn’t make my top list since OPM is one of my top genres.

Top Songs of 2019

I’m not surprised with my top songs because most of them are by BLACKPINK. They only have about 13 recorded songs since their debut in 2016, and that is not including remixes and Japanese versions! But of course Ariana Grande made my top 5 with “7 rings” and “Hot Girl Summer” rounded out the top 10.

  1. Kill This Love (BLACKPINK)
  2. STAY – Japanese Version (BLACKPINK)
  3. Really (BLACKPINK)
  4. SOLO (JENNIE)
  5. 7 rings (Ariana Grande)
  6. More Than That (Lauren Jauregui)
  7. STAY (BLACKPINK)
  8. Kiss and Make Up (Dua Lipa feat. BLACKPINK)
  9. SO HOT (BLACKPINK)
  10. Hot Girl Summer (Megan Thee Stallion feat. Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign)

Feel free to follow my playlist here to see what else made my Top Songs of 2019!

Looks I Love: 2019 Golden Globes After Parties

The Golden Globes doesn’t end after the last award is presented. In fact, the party really starts afterwards because the after parties bring out all of our favorite celebs who couldn’t make the big show! Here are some of my favorite looks.

Constance Wu may not have taken home a Golden Globe, but she still made sure she had a great time afterwards. She showed style and grace as she hit up every after party in a second Vera Wang gown.

Debby Ryan was spotted in a black Elie Saab gown with floral detail. The recently engaged star kicked off the night at the InStyle Magazine Golden Globes Viewing Party and then made her way over to the Netflix After Party.

Taylor Swift surprised many as she presented with Idris Elba on stage. Although she didn’t walk the Golden Globes red carpet in her black custom Versace gown, she showed it off at the InStyle And Warner Bros. Golden Globes After Party sans Joe Alwyn. Also, I had major, “I’m sorry, the old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now,” feels.

Lana Condor was a vision in white rocking a Michael Cinco gown. 2018 was a big year for the young star as the lead in To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and 2019 will be ever bigger with the premiere season of Deadly Class . She attended both the InStyle And Warner Bros. Golden Globes After Party and Netflix After Party and a part of me wished Noah Centineo was there too.

Gemma Chan decided to hit up the after parties with a brighter look. She went with a neon pink Miu Miu dress, but kept up with the high slit theme. She has so much poise every time she poses on the red carpet and I can’t help but admire her every time.

Crystal Reed defined “fierce” walking the InStyle And Warner Bros. Golden Globes After Party red carpet in a black Philipp Plein gown. The smize would do Tyra proud. I’m not sure what she’s been working on lately, but something tells me that 2019 is going to be huge.

Best Dressed: 2016 Grammys

Red carpet season continues with the 58th Annual Grammy Awards. While we’re used to seeing the biggest Hollywood actors and actresses strut their stuff on the red carpet, this is one of the rare times we get to see today’s hottest musicians show off their style. Photos courtesy of Zimbio.

Best New Artist nominee, Tori Kelly, look gorgeous in green! It’s one of her dreams to be at the Grammys and perform and for her first Grammy appearance, she did not disappoint in the one shoulder Gauri and Nainika dress. While her style is usually more edgy, she decided to embody classic Hollywood and I absolutely love it. Her beautiful hair off to the side paired with the natural looking make up helped put together the whole classic look. This look, hands down, was my favorite of the night. Also, I lowkey wished she won. She’s come so far and she stays grounded.torikelly58thgrammyawardsarrivalsv21shtgytoml

Demi Lovato showed us she’s a boss on the red carpet. At first, the look didn’t scream out to me, but seeing her walk the red carpet confidently definitely screamed out at me. You always have to make sure you WEAR the dress and the dress doesn’t wear you. And she WORE that Norisol Ferrari blazer dress. The top half was business and sophisticated, but the bottom half with the long slit made the look sexy and edgier. And while that neckline was really low, that beautiful chain necklace stood out to me. What’s wrong with being confident? Nothing at all, Demi. demilovato58thgrammyawardsarrivals188atum4g0cl

Anna Kendrick showed up to represent Pitch Perfect 2 and introduce the Tori Kelly/James Bay performance. She will always make my best dressed lists and I don’t care what any of you say. She went with a black Emanuel Ungaro dress. She kept it classy up top and showed off some leg. Usually Anna’s at home entertaining the masses live tweeting, so I wonder what she was thinking during the show.annakendrick58thgrammyawardsarrivalskb1mrr93gbhl

Sometimes the Grammys brings out Hollywood’s favorite actors and actresses and CBS’s Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco came to represent. At first, I thought it was a sleek looking dress,  but she decided to stray away from the typical red carpet dress and went with a Naeem Khan jumpsuit. She shined, literally. The backless portion and the little peek a boo triangle in the front is everything.kaleycuoco58thgrammyawardsarrivalshxh82fxqnedl

Let me get straight to the point with Ciara‘s look. This dress was plain, PLAIN SEXY. She wore a halter style dress by Alexandre Vauthier. One side was black and white and cover the whole side, while the other side was black and went all the way down to her hip and exposed her whole left leg. It was a risque choice, but it worked for Ciara. She worked it.ciara58thgrammyawardsarrivalshotgv7bifmgl

It seems a lot of artists walked the red carpet in black dressed and Best New Artist Meghan Trainor was part of that trend. She kept it classy with a Michael Costello gown. I love the sparkles and the long sleeves. And it just fits her perfectly. I almost didn’t recognize her with her new hair color! Honestly, I’m sitting here thinking about why this dress reminds me of another dress I’ve seen, but either way Meghan still looked stunning.

It’s not my best dressed list if there’s no red gown thrown in! Ariana Grande showed up in a red Romona Keveza gown and she was scorching hot! I especially loved the bustier style top of her dress and how it flowed down with her train trailing across the carpet. A part of me kind of wished she rocked a different hairstyle, but I can’t picture this look any other way!arianagrande58thgrammyawardsarrivalsut8zjlf6f4xl

Adele rocked two dresses tonight and she did it confidentally. She started off with a black sequined Givenchy dress which reminded me of her dress from her Grammy premiere in 2012. She looked classy, as always. But my favorite was the red Givenchy dress she wore during her “All I Ask” performance. While I, along with many other Twitter users were wondering what was going on with the audio, I was still admiring the simple, yet beautiful dress.

Album of the Year winner, Taylor Swift, slayed the red carpet. We’ve never seen this Taylor on the red carpet before. First off, she debuted a new hair shorter haircut which I think looks adorable on her! She went off with a bright color block, a coral top and pink skirt. But not only that, it was a two piece Atelier Versace dress. She was daring showing off the midriff and the leg and walked the red carpet like she owned the damn thing. And she definitely owned it.taylorswift58thgrammyawardsarrivalshcrks90jrf5l

And who better to walk the red carpet alongside Taylor than her BFF Selena Gomez. She sparkled and had fun walking the red carpet in a blue Calvin Klein Collection dress. My favorite part was the side slits. But just like Adele, Selena’s other dress was my favorite. I’m not sure why she changed, but I’m glad she did. She decided to tone down on the sparkles and went with a solid red Cushnie et Ochs gown. But she did keep it a bit similar with the front/side slit thing going on.  Some of you may think the dress is so simple and not a standout, but it just looked so beautiful to me. I mean, she doesn’t usually stand out to me on the red carpet, but this red dress absolutely took my breath away.

Now let me shout out to the men who rocked the red carpet.

While all the guys rocked their suit and ties, Big Sean, Sam Hunt and Justin Bieber stood out to me. Big Sean always looks his best on the red carpet and I absolutely love the white blazer. If this doesn’t scream GQ at you, then I don’t know what else will. Sam Hunt didn’t go with the typical black, white or navy suit that we normally see. I’m not sure how to describe this color, so I’ll just go with pink. The color of his suit stood out, but look at how handsome he is. Last but not least, how adorable is it that Justin Bieber brought his little brother on the red carpet with him? He chose to rock a white blazer with black slacks and a black dress shirt. And he chose right. I’m glad he cleaned up for this show. Normally, we see his hair a bit unruly and his clothes a bit casual, but he slicked his hair back and threw on a suit and looked pretty dapper if you ask me. I’m a belieber. Get over it.

Now that the Grammys are over, who were your favorite looks of the night? Let me know!
