Now Playing: Spotify Wrapped 2019

Happy Friday ya’ll!

If you’re an avid Spotify user like I am, you know that the end-of-the-year music round-up has been released and I must say that I’m not surprised with the results.

I’ve been sharing my results all over my socials, but I figured, why not share on my blog too!?

Top Artists

bfbb1037-dce4-49da-9a74-c21b56fe9d6c

  1. BLACKPINK – I became a fan in May 2019 and a stan July 2019. I didn’t know much about BP prior to their Coachella performance, but one day I was scrolling through Twitter and then I fell down the rabbit hole. From May to about September they were all I listened to. According to Spotify, I listened to them for a total of 292 hours. That doesn’t include YT streams or Apple Music. Mind you, I never obsessed about KPOP before them.
  2. Ariana Grande – We all know I love Ariana Grande. How can you not? Last year’s “Sweetener” was an amazing album with “God is a woman” and my personal faves, “everytime” and “breathin.”  Then her surprise drop of “thank u, next” had some memorable tracks. Both “7 Rings” and “thank u, next” were iconic. Now, I’m hoping for the AriPink collab to happen soon!
  3.  JENNIE (BLACKPINK) – She literally has one song and I guess I streamed it so many times, but I ain’t mad at this result. “SOLO” was released last year and it’s been doing so well in the charts as a solo KPOP artist. Jennie Kim is my bias and I’m pretty sure I’ll love her forever. One day I hope to see here “SOLO” stage live.
  4. Taylor Swift – I’ve been a fan of Taylor’s since her debut in country pop. But to be honest, I haven’t really enjoyed her past few albums. Then she came out with her “Lover” album and I felt like I was listening to the old Taylor that I loved. “Daylight” was the one song that I had on repeat this year.
  5. Alex Aiono – He’s one of my favorite YouTube artists of this decade. I remember the first video of his that I fell in love with, “One Dance/Hasta El Amanecer”. When he started to sing in Spanish, I literally fell in love and followed him since. Alex released some heartbreaking tracks this year and while I love them, I wonder who broke his heart.

According to Spotify, I’ve listened to artists from 32 different countries!

  1. BLACKPINK (South Korea)
  2. Ariana Grande (US)
  3. Shawn Mendes (Canada)
  4. Sam Smith (UK)
  5. NIKI (Indonesia)

I’m a bit bummed that artists from the Philippines didn’t make my top list since OPM is one of my top genres.

Top Songs of 2019

I’m not surprised with my top songs because most of them are by BLACKPINK. They only have about 13 recorded songs since their debut in 2016, and that is not including remixes and Japanese versions! But of course Ariana Grande made my top 5 with “7 rings” and “Hot Girl Summer” rounded out the top 10.

bed748a8-654c-4138-a618-c5f428f3a437

  1. Kill This Love (BLACKPINK)
  2. STAY – Japanese Version (BLACKPINK)
  3. Really (BLACKPINK)
  4. SOLO (JENNIE)
  5. 7 rings (Ariana Grande)
  6. More Than That (Lauren Jauregui)
  7. STAY (BLACKPINK)
  8. Kiss and Make Up (Dua Lipa feat. BLACKPINK)
  9. SO HOT (BLACKPINK)
  10. Hot Girl Summer (Megan Thee Stallion feat. Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign)

Feel free to follow my playlist here to see what else made my Top Songs of 2019!

Stay tuned for my Spotify Decade Wrap Up! I must say that a lot of results surprised me.

Now Watching: 5 Moments That Made Me Emotional On Last Night’s Game Of Thrones Finale

It’s clear that many fans were very unhappy with last night’s series finale of Game of Thrones. But all things must come to an end and not everyone can get a happy ending.

As for me, I didn’t hate it, but I also didn’t love it. I felt like there should have been more to the story or even a bit more time to process everything that went on this season. Either way, the episode definitely had moments that got me in my feelings. *Photos via DigitalSpy and belong to HBO*

Tyrion and his siblings

Obviously, the aftermath of last week’s episode was eerie. I can’t even imagine how Tyrion felt walking through it all. What got me was that he didn’t immediately go looking for Daenerys. He went straight to the Red Keep and the tunnels that led out of it. He needed to know if his brother and sister made it out alive.

game-of-thrones-season-finale-jaime-lannister-cersei-lannister-1558351317

At that moment when Tyrion saw Jamie’s gold hand underneath all the rubble, I felt the heartbreak. This scene moved me more than the duo’s impending death from last week. Despite everything he’s went through with his siblings, Tyrion’s grief was real. I felt it.

Jon kills his Queen/aunt/love

game-of-thrones-season-8-finale-jon-snow-daenerys-1558351315

I knew this scene was coming from unconfirmed spoilers and Twitter. I’m not sure if I was less emotional because of this, but I do know that I will always love Dany and Jon. And if I took a shot every time Jon proclaimed that Daenerys was his Queen, the hangover would have been insane. I loved their stories, both as individuals and together. Two heroes, who find each other and fall in love amidst the chaos. Sadly, it was a tragic ending.

As Dany approached the Iron Throne and reminisced about her childhood and finally getting what she’s longed for, I wonder how Jon ever got the courage to do what he did. It was heartbreaking as Jon professed his love one final time before betraying his Queen. Daenerys has had one goal her entire life – to become Queen. Jon’s goal was to always do the right thing. Both goals cost them their love for each other. “Duty is the death of love.”

daenerys-jon-snow-game-of-thrones-season-finale-1558351312

Drogon set the throne on fire.

Daenerys will always be one of my favorite characters. She has always been such a bad ass and while she’s done a few questionable things this season, this was not the ending I pictured for her.

game-of-thrones-season-finale-drogon-daenerys-1558351317

Drogon lost his brothers and now, his mother. As he nudged Daenerys, it was such a heartbreaking moment because Dany was all he had. I honestly thought that Drogon would attempt to burn his cousin Jon or simply rip him apart, but he somehow understood that the throne was Dany’s downfall. After everything that was lost, the iron throne was included with her ending and Drogon made sure of it.

Jon and Arya’s Goodbye.

I always loved the relationship between Jon and Arya. Jon has always been one of Arya’s biggest supporters and Arya always looked up to Jon. They bonded over the fact that they were both “black sheep” of the family.

game-of-thrones-finale-arya-stark-jon-snow-1558351313

When Jon was leaving to go back to the Night’s Watch, I felt their goodbye was the most heartfelt because of their close relationship. With their different paths, it almost felt like they were never going to see each other again. I hope both find happiness west of Westeros and North of the wall.

The Stark family montage.

I have two things to say:

1) Sansa is the Queen in the North and Margaery Tyrell would have been proud. Sansa isn’t that little bird anymore and it shows. I’m actually extremely happy about Sansa’a character development. I remember hating her attitude in the beginning, but I grew to love her and what she stood for.

game-of-thrones-finale-sansa-stark-1558351312

2) Bran knew he was going to be King of the Six Kingdoms and let all those innocents die. Would things have changed either way? I don’t know, but Brandon Stark is shady AF.

Bonus: The iconic dragon wings shot

giphy-downsized

Dany conquered King’s landing and Drogon was 100% behind her. Literally. The cinematography was perfect. Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms, the Mother of Dragons, the Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, the Unburnt, the Breaker of Chains, rose from the ashes. She was that bitch and did not regret anything.

Looks I Love: 2019 MET Gala

Last night was fashion’s biggest night out with the annual MET Gala! The exclusive, invite-only event brought out the biggest stars to raise money for New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.

Every year heads are turned with bold looks and this year, stars tried to keep to the theme, “Camp: Notes on Fashion”. To be honest, as I looked through all the MET Gala updates, I didn’t really understand what “camp” meant. I still don’t, but I can tell some people exceeded expectations, while others fell a bit short. Read till the end to see who were my favorite!

THE FIERCEST

GEMMA CHAN stepped out in Tom Ford looking like the Queen that she is. She sparkled from head to toe in a custom sequined gown and cape combo. But the biggest thing that didn’t go unnoticed was the headdress inspired by the icon Elizabeth Taylor.

KENDALL JENNER joined the family in a Versace gown accompanied with Tiffany jewels. Out of the entire Kardashian-Jenner clan, she was my favorite of the night. She looked like she was channeling a phoenix with the fiery feathers and proved to be one of the most sought out models out there.

MUSIC TO MY EARS/EYES

DUA LIPA and that hair! I’m so used to seeing her with her shorter do, but campy can mean exaggerated and well, she pulled it off. She rocked such a colorful Versace gown and the detail of the top was stunning. The UK singer did quite a great job for her first time at the ball.

HALSEY was a lady in red in this Prabal Gurung dress. From the way she carried herself, I got some Wonder Woman vibes. The look was completed with gold armbands and jewelry. How epic would it have been if she met Gal Gadot?

PRETTY IN PINK

KACEY MUSGRAVES looked like a real life Barbie and I am not complaining. She strutted the pink carpet in a hot pink Moschino ensemble, even carrying a pink hairdryer around as an accessory.

EMMA ROBERTS was another actress that decided to show up to the pink carpet in a pink gown. She wore a tiered, tulle Giambattista Valli Couture dress accompanied with a flower crown and Chanel #1 would be proud.

HAPPILY EVER AFTER

MILEY CYRUS & LIAM HEMSWORTH coordinated with matching Saint Laurent pieces. Miley opted for a black and emerald green dress, while her hubby complimented her in a black suit. It wasn’t as “campy” as I thought it would be, but when the two of them walk the red carpet together, you can’t help but feel the beautiful love.

SOPHIE TURNER & JOE JONAS made their debut as a married couple and they did it in style. They defined “matching couple’s outfit” in Louis Vuitton. I thought it was very “mod” with all the color and patterns. Is mod considered campy? All I know is that they looked great together.

NICK JONAS & PRIYANKA CHOPRA made their debut at last year’s MET and kept the tradition going. They rocked Dior together: Priyanka with her extravagant dress and hair and Nick with an all white ensemble.

THE MEN

HARRY STYLES chose to wear Gucci for his debut at the MET Gala. He was tapped to co-host the event and made sure to show off his fashionable self. The black jumpsuit was sheer in all the right places. Harry topped off the look with one pearl earring.

HENRY GOLDING made his MET Gala debut last night, just like a few of his Crazy Rich Asians co-stars. He stepped out in a Versace suit, but it wasn’t your typical black and white number. He rocked a purple and blue ombré suit with a matching tie.

DARREN CRISS was definitely very “campy”. He seems to always push the boundaries and is very confident in his skin, which made this Balmain look work with matching eye make-up. The jacket was 13-lbs, so he probably got a little work-out in!

THE WINNERS AKA MY FAVORITE LOOKS

ZENDAYA graced the MET Gala red carpet looking like a Disney Princess. She channeled Cinderella in a custom Tommy Hilfiger gown, transforming on the pink carpet with a little magic from her stylist. She even left a glass slipper on the MET stairs and I am 100% here for Zenderella.

HAILEY BIEBER‘s  look was one of the first looks I saw that made me say, “wow”. I’m not sure this was “campy”, but I loved it anyway. She was pretty in pastel pink with a backless Alexander Wang gown. The gown was absolutely stunning, along with her hair and makeup, which gave her an overall classic look.  P.S. I’m mad at all of you making Degrassi/Manny Santos jokes.

Who were your favorites of the night? Did you miss anybody because I definitely missed Blake Lively!

Now Watching: Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists “Lost and Found” | 1×6 Recap

Tonight’s episode kicked off right where it ended. Caitlin was rushed to the hospital, as her two friends were on edge knowing that Mason could possibly still be around watching them.

But the show must go on if Ava wants to get her Vogue internship. As she puts her final touches on the fashion show, she gets some help from Ali and a new character who absolutely despises her – or moreso what her dad did to his family.

Dylan and Ava get word that Caitlin is awake, but Dana is annoying AF and they can’t get anywhere near her to talk to her. Turns out the Senator (aka Caitlin’s mom) is visiting which explains the high security. Caitlin confronts her mom about her cheating and she wants her to turn a cheek and keep it from her other mother. That’s such a bad position to put your daughter in!

While Alison does real faculty stuff, Mona takes on the duty of finding Taylor at the camper. Taylor isn’t there, but Mona decides to stick around the camper. Good thing she does, because she finds Taylor’s secret Beacon Guard program. Mona, the perfect hacker that she is, finds that the little system can find the location of students and faculty.

Alison and her instincts find Taylor at the cemetery. Of course she would. After warning her to stay back, she somehow convinces Taylor to trust her mom and show her that she’s alive. Claire is shocked, but it turns to be a happy reunion.

Since the road where Caitlin was hit was closed for the day, Ava and Dylan make it a mission to search for Mason’s phone at night before the fashion show. Ava falls into the sewers and Dylan follows. They are met by something creeping around only to meet Dana Booker at the end of the tunnel who was Mason’s phone. The phone proved the opposite of what they hoped. He was at a crew party, the night of Nolan’s death. I wanted to slap the smug look off of Dana’s face, tbh.

Navigating through Taylor’s Beacon Guard, Mona sees that Mason is in Beacon Heights earlier than expected. It proves to be accurate as he pays a visit to Caitlin. But he does something unexpected and apologizes, “Being Nolan is not who I am.” Mason claims he was only Nolan’s insurance policy. But it would be too easy if Mason was the killer.

Dylan has an epiphany and thinks the person torturing them isn’t the killer, but someone who thinks they killed Nolan. Their new target is Dana Booker. Good luck with that!

The final scene brings us back to Mona in Taylor’s camper. It seems someone is at Mona’s apartment and that someone is the deceased Nolan Hotchkiss.

Now Watching: Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists “The Patchwork Girl”| 1×5 Recap

Last week, secrets spilled and people in hiding were found.

After invading Taylor’s space, Alison is taken on a little joyride to the middle of nowhere. Taylor freaks and reveals that she faked her suicide because someone was trying to kill her. With Alison finding her in the woods, she’s in danger and I wouldn’t doubt it.

On the other side of town, Mona learns about Ray Hogadorn and how he sees and knows everything. He’s like the Oz of Beacon Heights. He knows that someone was after Taylor and warns to keep her away since he sent her the first warning on the wall we saw a few episodes prior.

Despite all the drama, there is one thing that is keeping Ava’s hopeful – the fact that her dad may be around and trying to communicate with her. Last week, she received a music box and this week she received a secret note addressed to her in a way that only her dad knows. She later gets a call with an unknown number playing a message indicating the time to meet.

In an attempt to disassociate herself with the Nolan case, Ava devises a plan to drug Mason and get a confession out of him. As she proposes the plan, Caitlin is willing to help to apologize for what she did, while Dylan is hesitant because there is too much to risk, especially with his audition later that night.

Back in the woods, Taylor reveals that her mother, Claire, used Mona’s program to bring Alison to BHU. Claire was confident that Alison, would lead her to Taylor because of their similarities. Alison tries to convince Taylor to trust her just like Nolan did. Eventually, Taylor gives in and goes back home. I still can’t wait to figure out who has a vendetta for the Hotchkiss family.

Later that night, the Caitlin and Dylan meet at the cabin to prepare for Mason. Ava is late to the party as she has a tech rehearsal for her fashion show. An unexpected slide comes on the projector with a revealing photo of Dylan and Nolan. Ava is pissed to say the least. The trio argue and Ava wants to get the confession done and be done with the other two. The other two begin to hesitate and back out, but they’re already in too deep.

Mona spends her day trying to get a hold of Alison and is rudely interrupted by Dana Booker. She asks why Alison is protecting the three students and finds it strange that she seemed to do the same back in Rosewood – referring to her being the leader of the pack with people dependent on her. But while Dana Booker did her research, so did Mona and she did not hold back on why the former FBI Detective was fired.

After Alison brings Taylor home, she finally gets Mona’s text, “If you found her, don’t come back.” Was it an exaggeration? Not according to Ray Hogadorn. Ali gives in to Mona, but doesn’t find any sign of Taylor when she goes to wake her up. Either someone found her, or Taylor still doesn’t trust Alison.

Mason doesn’t show up to the cabin on time, so Ava and Dylan bail. But with perfect time, Mason texts Caitlin he’s on the way after they leave. Mason denies the whiskey because of a team pact, but Caitlin improvises. Caitlin somehow gets him to leave to get firewood and when he returns, she sees this as an opportunity to knock him over the head and steal his phone.

Ava goes back to her personal drama and follows the clues her dad allegedly left for her, only to find that Dana Booker played her. “You tell me all about who killed Nolan, we can forget about the past,” Dana proposes. Ava’s smarter than that, though.

The last scene finds us with Caitlin trying to gain Ava and Dylan’s trust with what she did to Mason. They meet at the old road and while Ava is on the way, someone cuts her off and meets the other two first. It was quite a quick meeting when the unknown driver hit Caitlin with their car.

To be honest, I’m gonna be mad if Mason has nothing to do with anything.

TLDR:

  • Ava’s got trust issues and it shows. I don’t blame her.
  • Alison somehow convinces Taylor to come home even though someone’s trying to kill her
  • Dana Booker likes to stick her nose into other people’s business.

Now Watching: Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists “The Ghost Sonata”| 1×4 Recap

Last week on PLL: The Perfectionists, we got to know Mason a bit more and this week I can’t decide if I hate him or Nolan more.

Our three favorite perfectionists talk about Caitlin’s discovery about Mason’s gum wrappers and he has perfect timing. He’s extremely arrogant and makes it very clear he wants to take over Nolan’s spot as head honcho.

Mona found that her BHU match system was hacked and found a new person similar to Caitlin and Alison, a man named Ray Hogadorn. She starts with Caitlin to figure out what the the have in common and is rudely interrupted by the handyman at BHU – which is important later in the episode.

Caitlin meets with Claire Hotchkiss to finally tell her off. She sees her secret boyfriend, Jeremy, but pulls away as soon as Claire enters the room. Caitlin reveals she can’t deal with spying for Claire and the Hotchkiss matriarch is not having it.

After Caitlin chooses sides, she proposes a plan to Ava and Dylan to get close to Mason to see what he knows. While they agree, they notice that the scoreboard says, “I see a rat.” Someone’s watching! The three run to Ali’s and she advises,” Secrets have a way of bringing you closer.” I had PLL feels.

As Ali continues to get comfortable in her new home, she finds books belonging to the previous owner, Taylor Hotchkiss. Taylor was very fond of “The Oz Books”. By the way she mapped at Beacon Heights, it seemed Taylor was on a search for Emerald City.

Secrets kept flying around this episode. Dylan finally decided to tell his boyfriend the secret Nolan had on him. At first, we’re meant to think Dylan’s secret is his pinched nerve. Andrew is pissed that he hid this, but Dylan adds salt to the wound revealing that he slept with Nolan multiple times.

Claire finds an opportunity to meet with Mason and gets a message, “I see you -A.” I died, but it was just Ava giving her moral support. Caitlin tries to get Mason to confess about his alibi, but he’s one step ahead revealing that he knows about Jeremy and that he would never rat her out. Keyword = rat. Claire can’t let Ava hear this, which makes you wonder why Jeremy is a big deal.

Ava comes home to a tiny music box and remembers her dad. But the fond memories are ruined when Caitlin reveals the actual secret Nolan had on her. Caitlin reveals she was the rat that revealed the investigation surrounding Ava and her family. Something tells me Claire Hotchkiss is smirking as this goes down.

Throughout the whole episode, Alison is preoccupied with thoughts of Emily. She feels that Emily moved on and it seems to me that Alison isn’t allowing herself to move on either. Among all the chaos surrounding BHU, Alison finally signs the divorce papers Emily sent. Why the hell would they break up Emison after everyone got their happy ending?

But life goes on Alison’s investigative nature kicks in. She explores a location on Taylor’s map – McDevitt’s Quarry. She confidently navigates the woods and finds a trailer. In the trailer, she finds the missing Oz book and the missing [live] body of Taylor Hotchkiss.

Ali isn’t the only one on an adventure. Instead of meeting her mysterious chess mate, Bad Bishop, she follows the Ray Hogadorn lead. Like Alison, she has no fear and enters a room full of secrets. Whoever the occupant is, is pretty focused on the Hotchkiss family. We find that Ray Hogadorn is the handyman that almost stabbed Mona.

Can’t wait to see how these secrets play out!

TLDR: Mason may be worse than Nolan. Emison is divorcing. Mona is smitten by a chess player. Secrets don’t seem to be bringing anyone closer at this point.

Now Watching: Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists “…If One of Them is Dead” (1×3) | A Recap

Last week on Pretty Little Liars: The PerfectionistsAlison decided to provide an alibi for her and her three students. To make sure they’re all on the same page, she invites them over and unplugs Beacon Guard. What a great way to make it obvious.

Dana Booker, the new head of security, obviously doesn’t believe their story as she shows Claire Hotchkiss a photo of the three students meeting in front of Thorne Hall before Nolan’s untimely death.

Claire doesn’t believe that Caitlin has anything to do with Nolan’s death and believes that she’ll be the first to break. She advises Dana to target Caitlin first. Out of the three, Caitlin seems to be the most eager to keep up appearances as Nolan’s “perfect posse” and that includes volunteering at her care package drive. Dylan and Ava aren’t too interested any more, especially with Dylan’s anniversary and Ava’s Vogue interview.

Ali is on a mission to figure out who is trying to frame her and her students. Mona is her go to for information, but Mona reveals that she is locked out of Beacon Guard due to suspicious activity. There is one person who doesn’t want to be found!

Life must go on and that includes class. Nolan’s former best friend, Mason makes a bold move and sits in Nolan’s seat. Caitlin has a bit trouble speaking up, while Ava gets angry and storms out. As Caitlin attempts to run after Ava, Dana Booker stops her and reveals that she knows her mother’s secret.

Ali meets Mason outside of class and he made a complete 180 from the funeral. He is arrogant and his true feelings about Nolan emerges. Mason reminisces about the perks of being in Nolan’s circle, but things changed when they started at BHU, especially considering Nolan stole Caitlin.

While Caitlin struggles at her drive sans her two new besties, the other two have their own struggles. Ava contemplates how she is the perfect choice for Vogue and gets drunk in the process. Dylan on the other hand struggles with a new composition and pictures of him and Nolan start to haunt him. Dana Booker and her perfect timing gets into Dylan’s head. “You’re nothing like Ava and Caitlin.”

Caitlin decides to meet with Claire for help with Dana Booker and the family secret. In exchange to keep Caitlin’s secret, Claire asks Caitlin to find out the other’s secrets. And just like that, Caitlin breaks, just like she predicted. Claire also gives Caitlin a gift that she found from Nolan.

Caitlin finds out that the said gift from Nolan was actually meant for Ava – a broken camera lens symbolizing how much Nolan wanted to protect Ava. She visits Ava, moreso to get information, but her conscience stops herself from snooping. Ava thinks Caitlin went out of her way to do something nice and decides to keep her promise to join her volunteering.

Ava decides to drive the three of them to a cabin in the woods. On the night of Nolan’s death, Ava had followed him there and saw him with a blond. At the time she thought he was cheating, but now believes it had to be something else. They’re visit is interrupted by an unexpected intruder, Alison. They all explore for clues, but claim to find nothing!

On the way home, Dylan reveals he found a gum wrapper similar to the one found in the woods. The drive is cut short when Dylan has to puke. Apparently, someone left Nolan’s stash in Ava’s trunk with a little note and present – “One of you is a rat, you tell or I will.” My favorite part of this scene was Ava picking up a dead rat and throwing it away. She’s a badass.

Alison also lied about not finding anything. She returns to the cabin alone and takes home a yellow rose, which still seemed to be fresh. After doing some Instagram research, she finds that a yellow rose is associated with Taylor Hotchkiss.

At this point, everyone seems to be opening up to each other. The three gives each other a pep talk. Dylan opens up his music to the girls, Caitlin is seen smiling about her volunteer efforts, and Ava decided to do her Vogue interview sober. Her monologue was my favorite as she started with,”I am not a perfect choice for the Vogue internship..” She talks about perfection and how it doesn’t exist – how it’s okay to ask for help.

The ending scene shows Mason offering to walk Caitlin home. She declines but notices a very similar gum wrapper as seen in the woods and the cabin. Mason is definitely hiding something.

Also, do you know how much I love the little quips between Alison and Mona?
Alison: Do you know why I faked my own death?
MonaBecause everyone in Rosewood wanted to kill you?
Alison: Not everyone!

TLDR: One of the perfectionists almost breaks, but they all finally open up to each other. Mason is not at all who he appears to be.

Now Watching: Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists “Sex, Lies and Alibis” (1×2) |A recap

The episode began right where last week ended, at the crime scene. Among the crowd, Ava was devastated at the sight of her (ex) boyfriend. Her two fake friends, Dylan and Caitlin, tried to approach her, but she wanted nothing to do with them. Nolan’s demise hit every detail of Caitlin’s vision, so I understand Ava.

Three days later, we find Ava sulking, Dylan having nightmares, and Caitlin on a diet. However, both Caitlin and Dylan have significant others to lean on, while Ava doesn’t seem to have anyone, but a bottle of jack.

Ali is on a mission to figure out who left that  message on her wall. Her repair call is cut short when she receives a message from Nolan to meet him on the roof of Thorne hall. Clearly, someone is trying to frame her/freak her out – unless the dead can text now.

Ali teams up with Mona to figure out what happened. Mona is in “beautiful mind” mode as she tries to figure out who snapped – something about allowing Nolan to go to BHU even though his profile didn’t meet her algorithms and had red flags. Ali slaps the equation out of Mona and everything becomes about key lime pie. Mona is creeping me out, but I love how she calls Ali out to quit trying to be something she isn’t.

Dylan and Caitlin think it’s finally time to confront Ava and convince her that they had nothing to do with Nolan’s murder. Ava is hesitant, but she plays along for Nolan’s funeral. They’re the perfect posse grieving their fearless leader. Also, it was quite a fashionable funeral.

A new character comes into play, Nolan’s childhood best friend and Caitlin’s ex, Mason. Mason reminisces about the past and then offers to be an alibi for Caitlin. This comes out of nowhere! While the two converse, Dylan tries to find Nolan’s stash of secrets, but only meets a letter. Someone beat him and his newfound friends to it.

The three perfectionists show up to Nolan’s vigil and talk like no one’s listening. Someone chimes in, “It’s just like how you imagined it.” If I learned one thing from PLL, it’s that you can’t trust anyone as there are eyes and ears everywhere.

As Alison prepares to return to school, an unexpected visitor shows up at her home – Claire Hotchkiss. After losing her son, she felt like being close to her daughter by breaking into her old home. Claire reveals how close Taylor and Nolan were and even gives Ali some advice,”You’re a survivor Alison, at all costs. That’s what you need to teach them.” Claire definitely knows more than she’s letting on.

After Mona’s breakdown and change in personality throughout the episode, we get to see her open up, or at least try to. PLL fans would probably enjoy the 2nd to last scene because we see Mona call Hanna and reveal that Haleb has a baby. But that’s not the only bombshell – Spoby eloped. My heart soared!

In the last scene, it’s the first day back to school and the investigation continues. Ava seems to break down her walls to let Dylan and Caitlin in, but things go south when the three are pulled from class by the new head of security, Dana Booker. She asks where they were the night of Nolan’s murder and Ali saves the day. Security was turned off around her home that night so she had the perfect alibi. I guess you can say she’s still a pretty little liar. “Bring it on, bitch.”

TLDR: Someone really had it out for Nolan and his perfect posse. Dylan and Caitlin start becoming real friends, while Ava has trust issues. Ali lies to save her and her students, while Mona likes key lime pie and equations.

Now Watching: Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists Pilot Episode | A recap

For Pretty Little Liars fans all over the world, tonight was a big night with the debut of it’s spin-off series, Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists. The show features two of Rosewood’s fiercest women, Alison Dilaurentis (Sasha Pieterse) and Mona Vanderwaal (Janel Parrish), along with a few new faces.

Now while I will always love and miss my OG liars, I thoroughly enjoyed the pilot with it’s introduction to different characters, a murder mystery, and the musical soundtrack. Of course, you can take a girl out of Rosewood, but drama will always follow her wherever she goes.

The episode began with a mean orchestral version of Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face”, a voice over, and an introduction to three Beacon Heights University students striving for perfection. Little do they know, something pretty big is going to hit them really hard.

Next came our favorite former mean girl starting a new gig as a teacher’s assistant at Beacon Heights University. Alison is sans her wife and twins as we later learn that Emily still has trust issues. While Alison thinks she’s alone in her new town, she’s actually greeted by a familiar face, Mona, who brings pie. Mona had a hand in recruiting her former frenemy. At this point, I’m not sure if we can trust Mona especially as she talks to a mirror when Ali leaves the room.

As Mona catches up with Ali, she mentions a few things about BHU. BHU has a security system called Beacon Guard and later on we learn that the so called security system is moreso invading privacy instead of protecting students.

Then, there’s the prominent Hotchkiss family. Taylor Hotchkiss allegedly committed suicide the year before and Alison is the lucky faculty member that gets to stay in her house. Nolan Hotchkiss is the jerk that everyone hates to love. And then there the matriarch of the family, Claire Hotchkiss, who seems to be the overbearing mother who wants the best for her children, even if that means spying on them [and the rest of the population]. Claire also seems to take a liking to Alison as she reminds her of her late daughter.

If only Claire knew how much her son Nolan and the old Alison had in common – both manipulative without any regard to people’s feelings. Alison catches on to Nolan’s attitude and the people he’s hurting.

First off there’s Ava, the influencer. She has been having a tough time after her family abandoned her – her dad is on the run and her mom couldn’t handle it. Nolan is dating her in secret, but breaks her heart by sleeping with another girl. The only redeeming part about him is when you realize he did it to protect her and hide from his mother’s Beacon Guard.

Then there’s Caitlin, the girl who plans to follow her mother’s political footsteps. Nolan practically blackmails her into fake dating to make people believe they are a perfect power couple. This makes Nolan’s mom happy, but Caitlin’s real beau isn’t too thrilled. If Caitlin reveals the truth, then her mother’s future Presidential career is dunzo.

Lastly, we have Dylan, who is at BHU on a music scholarship. He’s aiming to make first chair, but he feels the pressure. Hailing from a small town, his choices aren’t exactly welcomed. His so called friendship with Nolan includes doing Nolan’s schoolwork and being at his every beck and call. Nolan even attempts to ruin Dylan’s relationship with a little seduction.

After Alison meets with the three separately, offering to help with their Nolan woes, the trio meets at a safe place in the woods. They discuss how they actually want to take Nolan down and contemplate murder. It gets a little graphic, especially when Caitlin pictures Nolan falling from the roof and landing on the fence spikes.

We then learn that Taylor Hotchkiss is actually alive and in hiding. The only one who knows is her brother, Nolan. Seems like the sibling duo is tired of being under their mother’s watchful eye and are trying to figure out why the security system is so invasive. At this point it doesn’t seem like Nolan is a huge douche after all.

Nolan he meets someone on one of the school’s rooftops to get more help with taking down the security system. It’s a safe place he says before revealing that his sister is alive. It isn’t that safe when the mysterious person pushes him off leading him to land directly through the fence spikes. This death was gruesome and definitely up there with Noel’s death.

While this takes place, Alison finds a little writing on her walls: “They’re watching.” How fitting is it that she hears sirens after her discovery?

While Ava looks upon the crime scene heartbroken and distraught, Caitlin is in disbelief that her murderous thought came to life. Dylan doesn’t help when he reminds her that it’s exactly what she pictured.

The last scene gives us a glimpse of Mona freaking out in the bathroom. She yet again talks to a mirror revealing the intricate security system. Seems like she knows more than she’s letting on.

TLDR: Alison and Mona thought they left the drama behind in Rosewood, but they were wrong. They now have to deal with a new group of friends who could possibly be linked to a new campus murder. A new age “A” is watching their every move.

Looks I Love: 2019 Academy Awards

Tonight, red carpet season ended with Hollywood’s biggest award show, the 91st Annual Academy Awards. The iconic Hollywood and Highland intersection was definitely busy as the hottest stars of the year walked the red carpet before entering the Dolby Theater. Before Green Book took home the Oscar for Best Picture, these artists caught my eye on the red carpet:

Constance Wu

Constance Wu looked like a modern day Belle walking the red carpet in a yellow Versace gown. She looked like she had a lot of fun showing off the tulle skirt. Before presenting an award during the big show, she walked the red carpet alongside Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu. |Photo Source: Getty Images via Zimbio|

Tessa Thompson

Before sharing a moment with Michael B. Jordan on stage, Tessa Thompson walked the red carpet in a Chanel gown. The black and gold gown was from one of the late Karl Lagerfeld’s last collections and she looked beautiful. |Photo Source: Getty Images via Zimbio|

Regina King

Regina King stunned in a white Oscar De La Renta gown. The strapless, high slit gown hugged every curve of her body. It definitely takes a lot of confidence and trust to wear an all white gown. She took home the first award of the night, Best Supporting Actress for her role in If Beale Street Could Talk. |Photo Source: Getty Images via Zimbio|

Lady Gaga

Before performing “Shallow” with Bradley Cooper and taking the home for Best Original Song, Lady Gaga walked the red carpet in an Alexander McQueen gown. From the black gown and the satin gloves to the Tiffany and Co. jewelry, she channeled the ever so classic Audrey Hepburn and I was all here for it.|Photo Source: Getty Images via Zimbio|

Kiki Layne

Kiki Layne got the pretty in pink memo for the night. Representing If Beale Street Could Talk, she walked the red carpet in Atelier Versace. While this may have been her first  go at award season, she looked like a pro absolutely slaying every red carpet look during the season. |Photo Source: Getty Images via Zimbio|

Brie Larson

Brie Larson shined in a silver Celine gown. I’m sure a few people were blinded by the dress, but she was absolutely stunning. She stood tall with a high neckline and high leg slit. The Academy Award winner presented an award later on in the night and can soon be seen in Captain Marvel. |Photo Source: Getty Images via Zimbio|

Gemma Chan

Gemma Chan was definitely one of the actresses to watch this season. She walked the red carpet in Maison Valentino, wearing one of the most popular colors of the night, pink. As always, she looked elegant and poised even with the pockets! Aside from her success from Crazy Rich Asians, Gemma Chan will soon be back on the big screen alongside Brie Larson in Captain Marvel. |Photo Source: Getty Images via Zimbio|

Emilia Clarke

Emilia Clarke will always be Khaleesi – always. Before presenting Jennifer Hudson’s performance, she sparkled on the red carpet in a lavender colored Balmain gown. She  always looks like a classic Hollywood actress, but adds some modern flare to her looks. As a fan of Game of Thrones, I’m hoping that a picture of her and Jason Momoa resurfaces. |Photo Source: Getty Images via Zimbio|

The Men

Nicholas Hoult in Dior | Joe Alwyn in Tom Ford | Henry Golding in Ralph Lauren | Jason Momoa in Fendi by Karl Lagerfeld | Michael B. Jordan in Tom Ford | Ben Hardy |

Let me know who your favorites were!
