Now Playing: Spotify Wrapped 2019

Happy Friday ya’ll!

If you’re an avid Spotify user like I am, you know that the end-of-the-year music round-up has been released and I must say that I’m not surprised with the results.

I’ve been sharing my results all over my socials, but I figured, why not share on my blog too!?

Top Artists

bfbb1037-dce4-49da-9a74-c21b56fe9d6c

  1. BLACKPINK – I became a fan in May 2019 and a stan July 2019. I didn’t know much about BP prior to their Coachella performance, but one day I was scrolling through Twitter and then I fell down the rabbit hole. From May to about September they were all I listened to. According to Spotify, I listened to them for a total of 292 hours. That doesn’t include YT streams or Apple Music. Mind you, I never obsessed about KPOP before them.
  2. Ariana Grande – We all know I love Ariana Grande. How can you not? Last year’s “Sweetener” was an amazing album with “God is a woman” and my personal faves, “everytime” and “breathin.”  Then her surprise drop of “thank u, next” had some memorable tracks. Both “7 Rings” and “thank u, next” were iconic. Now, I’m hoping for the AriPink collab to happen soon!
  3.  JENNIE (BLACKPINK) – She literally has one song and I guess I streamed it so many times, but I ain’t mad at this result. “SOLO” was released last year and it’s been doing so well in the charts as a solo KPOP artist. Jennie Kim is my bias and I’m pretty sure I’ll love her forever. One day I hope to see here “SOLO” stage live.
  4. Taylor Swift – I’ve been a fan of Taylor’s since her debut in country pop. But to be honest, I haven’t really enjoyed her past few albums. Then she came out with her “Lover” album and I felt like I was listening to the old Taylor that I loved. “Daylight” was the one song that I had on repeat this year.
  5. Alex Aiono – He’s one of my favorite YouTube artists of this decade. I remember the first video of his that I fell in love with, “One Dance/Hasta El Amanecer”. When he started to sing in Spanish, I literally fell in love and followed him since. Alex released some heartbreaking tracks this year and while I love them, I wonder who broke his heart.

World Citizen

According to Spotify, I’ve listened to artists from 32 different countries!

  1. BLACKPINK (South Korea)
  2. Ariana Grande (US)
  3. Shawn Mendes (Canada)
  4. Sam Smith (UK)
  5. NIKI (Indonesia)

I’m a bit bummed that artists from the Philippines didn’t make my top list since OPM is one of my top genres.

Top Songs of 2019

I’m not surprised with my top songs because most of them are by BLACKPINK. They only have about 13 recorded songs since their debut in 2016, and that is not including remixes and Japanese versions! But of course Ariana Grande made my top 5 with “7 rings” and “Hot Girl Summer” rounded out the top 10.

bed748a8-654c-4138-a618-c5f428f3a437

  1. Kill This Love (BLACKPINK)
  2. STAY – Japanese Version (BLACKPINK)
  3. Really (BLACKPINK)
  4. SOLO (JENNIE)
  5. 7 rings (Ariana Grande)
  6. More Than That (Lauren Jauregui)
  7. STAY (BLACKPINK)
  8. Kiss and Make Up (Dua Lipa feat. BLACKPINK)
  9. SO HOT (BLACKPINK)
  10. Hot Girl Summer (Megan Thee Stallion feat. Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign)

Feel free to follow my playlist here to see what else made my Top Songs of 2019!

Looks I Love: 2019 Grammys

Award season continued tonight, but this time it was the musician’s time to shine at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards. Here are my fave looks of the night!

Bebe Rexha

Nominated for two Grammys tonight, including Best New Artist, Bebe Rexha stepped out in a red Monsoori gown. The gown was mostly tulle and looked super fun to flaunt around the red carpet. | Photo Source: Getty Images via Zimbio |

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus walked the red carpet in a black, over sized pre-fall 2019 Mugler suit. She looked like the chic rock star that she is. Later on in the night, she joined Shawn Mendes’ performance for “In My Blood” and paid tribute to Dolly Parton – she killed both performances. | Photo Source: Getty Images via Zimbio |

Maren Morris

One of today’s biggest country stars, Maren Morris walked the red carpet in a sheer floral gown by Galia Lahav. Not only was “The Middle” singer nominated for 5 awards, but she also got the chance to perform alongside the legendary Dolly Parton. | Photo Source: Getty Images via Zimbio |

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa sparkled in a silver, mermaid-style Versace number, featuring a long train. She was all smiles on the red carpet after receiving the news that she won the award for Best Dance Recording for “Electricity”. However, I bet she was even more ecstatic after receiving the award for Best New Artist. | Photo Source: Getty Images via Zimbio |

Let me know which looks and performances you loved from the 2019 Grammys!

Looks I Love: 2018 American Music Awards

When I think of the American Music Awards, I think fun and bold and a little less casual than other awards shows. This year there were a lot of dresses/gowns proving my previous statement to be slightly wrong, but you know I love when today’s hottest stars step out on the red carpet. So without further ado, here are a few of my favorite looks:

Leighton Meester

The former Gossip Girl star stepped onto the red carpet in a black and white Sonia Rykiel gown. I swear Blair Waldorf would be proud. She pulled back her hair to show off the halter neckline and paired the velour number with a black clutch. When she’s not presenting awards, you can watch her on ABC’s Single Parents. | Photo Source: Frazer Harrison/Getty Images North America via Zimbio |

Amber Heard

Amber Heard has had a busy few weeks promoting the indie film Her Smell as well as the much anticipated DC movie, Aquaman. She looked like royalty in a black tulle Ralph & Russo Couture dress. The gown is straight from the designer’s Autumn Winter 2018 line, but it seems a dash of metallic gold paillettes were added. | Photo Source: Frazer Harrison/Getty Images North America via Zimbio |

Carrie Underwood

The country music superstar looked so beautiful walking the carpet, as she made her first appearance after announcing her pregnancy. She was all smiles in a black Steven Khalil gown with gold embellishments. Her smile was even brighter as she accepted the AMA for Favorite Female Country Star. | Photo Source: Frazer Harrison/Getty Images North America via Zimbio |

Kelsea Ballerini

Out of all the looks on this list, I think this one fit the AMAs perfectly. To me, the AMAs are fun and flirty and while gowns are beautiful, this little dress was perfect for the young country singer. Before presenting alongside the Chainsmokers, she wore this black and yellow sequined ensemble from the Spring/Summer 2018 Nicolas Jebran line. | Photo Source: Frazer Harrison/Getty Images North America via Zimbio |

Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez was definitely a hottie in a hot pink dress by Georges Chakra. The gown from his Fall/Winter 2018-2019 line features a long cape as well as a black belt to hold it together. And J. Lo held it down looking as fierce as ever. Aside from new music, you can expect to see her in the film Second Act this December. | Photo Source: Frazer Harrison/Getty Images North America via Zimbio |

Dua Lipa

The English pop star is making waves and records everywhere! Before taking the stage to perform “One Kiss” and “Electricity”, Dua Lipa was a vision in white on the red carpet with a mermaid style gown by Giambattista Valli. She may not have won an award, but she wins everything else. | Photo Source: Frazer Harrison/Getty Images North America via Zimbio |

Vanessa Hudgens

One of my favorites, Vanessa Hudgens, looked pretty in pink with a Cushnie dress. The rose colored dress came straight from the runway from the Spring 2019 collection. Instead of going with some long locks, the fashionista went with a short bob and made sure to show off the low-cut neckline. Vanessa is also co-starring in Second Chance this December! | Photo Source: Frazer Harrison/Getty Images North America via Zimbio |

The Men

Rami Malek will soon be seen as Freddie Mercury in the Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody and tonight he looked great in a Givenchy suit.

Thomas Rhett was a looker in a royal blue fitted suit.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Khalid rocked the carpet in a pinkMoschino ensemble before performing “Eastside” with Halsey and Benni Blanco!

Quavo of Migos came through drippin’ in Dolce & Gabbana as he walked solo on the red carpet.

The Couples

Cardi B & Offset

The married couple walked the red carpet in Dolce & Gabbana. Cardi B showed off so much personality in the floral gown, while Offset stepped back and let his lady steal the show.

G-Eazy & Halsey

I will always love these two together. Both G-Eazy and Halsey (in a Redemption dress) are always so stylish on the red carpet solo, but when they’re together it’s a whole other level. They are goals.

Send me your favorite looks of the night!

New Music Friday: “Camila” | A review.

I woke up this morning and saw the headline, “Camila Cabello’s debut album is breaking records,” and a part of me is proud to see that girl who started with the X-Factor’s Fifth Harmony in 2012 do so well. The other part of me was sad that it couldn’t work out with my favorite girl group. As a huge 5H fan, it was bittersweet. In a perfect world, they’d all be happy for each other. But that’s none of my business.

Camila Cabello left Fifth Harmony over a year ago and has been working on making it solo [even when she was with the group]. In 2016 she collaborated with artists such as Shawn Mendes and Machine Gun Kelly, and in 2017 began her solo journey by releasing her first single, “Crying in the Club.” To be honest, I wasn’t really a fan of that song, but after that she had several hit singles and features including my personal favorite, “Havana.”

Today, she finally released her first solo album, self-titled “Camila”, formerly known as “The Hurting, the Healing, the Loving” . According to Billboard, it has reached the #1 spot on iTunes in over 90 countries all over the world. She’s proven to be a force to be reckoned with.

Let’s get to it!

  1. “Never be the Same” – This track was released prior to the whole album release. To me it sets the tone of the whole album – reminiscent of love and relationships. She talks of an intoxicating love, someone who comes along and leaves a huge impact on her life. I’m not sure if it’s a positive impact, but the girl sounds addicted to this love. It’s one of the few electronic tracks, but it’s not overdone. She has a lot of control in the song.It sounds like the Camila we’re so used to hearing (in 5H), but also a little toned down.
  2. “All These Years” – Because I’m a sucker for slower tracks, I love this song. It’s not a ballad or anything like that, but it has a stripped down, acoustic sound I love. Keeping in tact with the love, she sings about reuniting with a past love, maybe the one that got away? I think about these things too, Camila, so I totally get it. It’s definitely not a song you’d expect to be dancing to during your nightlife shenanigans.
  3. “She Loves Control” – After “All These Years,” we are hit with a more upbeat song, with a little Latin flavor. It’s doesn’t reach the level of “Havana”, but it’s enough to get you moving. Camila is most definitely singing about herself in the third person. She loves control, so you better let her have it.
  4. “Havana” feat. Young Thug – As much as I love this song now, it took me a while to get into it. This song is what today’s kids call, “lit”. She takes the listener back to her roots, where she was born and raised. It’s another track with Latin flavor and it’s more upbeat. It’s more so an ode to her home town rather than a past love. It’s also the only track with a feature, but I’m sure it would have been a hit otherwise. Daddy Yankee appeared on the remix for this song with Camila singing Spanish for the opening verse.
  5. “Inside Out” – I’m still trying to figure out what this song sounds like. I’m getting a more pop, island, mellow vibe, if that’s even thing. However, it doesn’t feel like it fits in the album, as it’s the most diverse. Honestly, it’s not my favorite, but without a doubt it’s another upbeat song that will get you bopping your head.
  6. “Consequences” – The album seems to shift at this point – it goes from upbeat to a little heartbreaking. “Consequences” is another slower track with that stripped down feeling. The piano melody is simple and paired with Camila’s vocals, the song hits you right in the feels. As I listen to the lyrics and the ending, “Loving you was sunshine, but then it poured. And I lost so much more than my senses, ’cause loving you had consequences,” I sit here wondering who broke Camila’s heart. Lyrically, this proves that Camila has a way with words and is blossoming into a more experienced songwriter.
  7. “Real Friends” –  This was another track that was pre-released. It was released alongside “Never Be the Same” and was clearly different from the opening track. “Real Friends” is actually my favorite track on this album. It’s another stripped down track with an acoustic guitar and when I first heard it last month, I knew I had to learn it. Anyways, this song, to me was the most heartbreaking. It’s not a love song about some guy who broke her heart, but a song about trying to find, what the title suggests, “real friends.” It touched upon “feeling so alone in every crowded room” and that became one of my favorite lines. One could easily think that this was inspired by her fall out with the members of Fifth Harmony – just when I finally thought I was over it.
  8. “Something’s Gotta Give” – Continuing on with the heartbreak, Cabello keeps it slow in this track. If you’ve ever heard, Bruno Mars’ “Talking to the Moon,” this song has a similar sound to it. That addictive love she sang about in the beginning seems to come to an end in this track. Again with the lyrics, we’re hearing a more mature Camila Cabello. It’s definitely a break up track you’d be singing along to when going through a heartbreak.
  9. “In the Dark” – As I listen to this song, the line “LA doesn’t feel like home” makes me feel like Camila has a love/hate relationship with the city, or more so the LA lifestyle. It almost feels like a follow up on “Real Friends” as she has a conversation with someone caught up with the LA lifestyle, asking them to bear their truths and come clean “in the dark” so to speak. This song also ends the vulnerable sound we heard in the last few songs.
  10. “Into It” – The vulnerability is completely thrown out the door with this song. She shows us her sexy side with this track starting off with the line, “I’m not a psychic, but I see myself all over you.” This song is where the album comes full circle. She starts this relationship then goes through the heartbreak and then gets over it and starts again. She’s confident in this one and to be honest, this has a Fifth Harmony sound if that makes sense

Overall, this album kind of went through different stages in a relationship. Again, a lot of it was stripped down and vulnerable. We saw a more mature side of Camila Cabello, but also a softer side. When she was in Fifth Harmony, she always seemed to make herself stand out and that she did. But with this album, I didn’t feel like someone was trying too hard. There weren’t elaborate voice tricks or an overload of runs – it didn’t feel forced, if that makes sense? She also had the chance to showcase her song writing skills and creativity, which any artist would be happy to do.  Camilla Cabello proved she isn’t just a one hit wonder or girl group has been. With the success of her singles and the clear success of this album, she can make it on her own.

What are your feelings on the first solo breakout of Fifth Harmony?

Now Playing: New Music Friday 9.8.17

Hello!

Here’s yet another edition of me pretending I know how to review music. To be honest, I really just want to showcase my feels when I hear songs for the first time, especially from artists that I love.

Here are a few songs that stood out to me on this week’s New Music Friday playlist :

“You Don’t Do It For Me Anymore” by Demi Lovato

https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/3JBUv4SVXFAbZVlnchORpU

At 10 p.m. PST last night, I saw that this song was released. I was about 1 hour late, but you better believe I went straight to Spotify and streamed it. I will always love Demi Lovato’s voice. It’s so strong and soulful and there’s just so many feels when she belts out those high notes. Her ballads are always my favorite.

This is the 3rd track from her upcoming album and from what I’m hearing I could tell that I’m going to enjoy it. I feel like she’s gotten some inspiration over the years and just like Sam Smith’s new song, I feel some heartbreak.

Her 6th studio album, “Tell Me You Love Me”, will be released on 9/29/17.

“Too Good At Goodbyes” by Sam Smith

https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/7oAraczbemGSNWqnbkU87R

It’s been two years, so people have definitely been waiting to hear from Grammy Award winner, Sam Smith. With records like “Stay With Me”, “Lay Me Down”, and my personal favorite “Not In That Way”, expectations are high. And being deemed the male version of Adele, emotions are high as well.

In “Too Good At Goodbyes”, Sam gives such a soulful performance. He is basically singing about not giving a f**k when the relationship in question ends. But even though he’s trying to mask it, you can hear the heartbreak.

“Let Me Go” by Hailee Steinfeld with Alesso feat. Florida Georgia Line & watt

https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/5Gu0PDLN4YJeW75PpBSg9p

I love Hailee. For some reason, I feel like she’s been in the music industry for a while and then I remember she’s only 20 years old. While her sound is very pop, I feel like she stands out as an artist. When I listen to her sing, I don’t see Hailee Steinfeld, the actress trying to merge into the music business. I see her as the solo music artist, if that makes sense. I think she does a really good job at keeping the two careers separate. I’m hoping a studio album is coming out soon.

Anyways, this song has a very familiar sound to it. It’s definitely clear that Alesso is on the track. But I think the cool part of this song is how Florida Georgia Line is featured. When country meets pop, it’s always a good time.

“Love So Soft” by Kelly Clarkson

https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/0o7glLPfZgns8ZF14Wlpf7

It’s so hard to believe that it’s been 15 years since Kelly Clarkson was deemed the 1st American Idol. Makes me feel old AF. But Kelly Clarkson, along with Carrie Underwood, is undeniably one of the most successful American Idols.

With this song, I feel like Kelly stayed true to herself, but added a little more flavor to go along with what we’re currently hearing on the radio now. It’s a song to sing along to and it gets you up and moving.

“Leave Right Now” by Thomas Rhett

https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/0wyja8xD9cNhDtfuY0dVMP

I don’t listen to country often. I don’t hate it, but it’s just not something you’ll see on my playlists. I’ve never listened to Thomas Rhett, but like most country songs, this song sounded super sweet. I like that it starts off sweet with an acoustic guitar and then later on there’s some electronic music infused as if a DJ came and remixed the song.

From what I can tell, Thomas Rhett is kind of straddling the line between country and pop and it sounds great. If I didn’t know that Thomas was a country singer, I probably wouldn’t have thought this was country.

“Dark Side of the Gym” by The National

https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/1OdpIb0nzhDcqwkiYp0O1u

I have no idea who The National is, but apparently they’re an indie rock band that’s been around since 1999 (maybe even longer). I usually like alternative rock, but just like country, it’s not on my typical playlists (at least currently).

This song is pretty chill and mellow, but there’s a music break towards the end that makes me think of those cheesy teen movies from the 80s. I even get a 50s vibe. All I picture is a young couple slow dancing in a gym at their school dance.

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/1YuIEfhp8umr6QSal4FTK4

https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/4nGW06TRJOIrVRfjnuK4se

A few of these songs will be on repeat for the next few days and I’m extremely excited to hear what’s coming up for the artists.

Do you have any favorite new music that’s out?

MTV VMAs: Fifth Harmony

It’s the night of the MTV Video Music Awards! With so much new music dropping and drama between all the musicians’, one can’t help but wonder if tonight’s show will go smoothly or be a complete trainwreck.

To be honest, I didn’t even know the VMAs were this week until yesterday. Other than Demi Lovato & Fifth Harmony, I had no idea who else was performing or who was set to host/present. And those are the only two performances I watched. #SorryNotSorry.

So naturally, this post will be short and sweet. I just wanted to communicate the feels I got from Fifth Harmony’s performance.

First let me start by saying congratulations to the girls for winning Best Pop Video for “Down”. As a foursome with new music, this was their first award and as a harmonizer I was very proud.

And then came their performance. I laughed in the beginning. I shouldn’t have, but I did. The performance started out with the four of them on stage joined by another hooded member in the center. As soon as “Angel” started, that hooded person was knocked off the stage by the beat. People want to keep talking about the elephant in the room, but obviously they’re tired of it. And people need to get over it. This was their way to end the topic. Camila is doing fine by herself and Fifth Harmony is still holding it down together.

Normani and Lauren slayed their verses in “Angel” before they fell back to join the fallen member and the lights cut off.

The performance continued on with their first single off the latest album, “Down”.  The four appeared in separate boxes and kicked their way out before breaking it down with the chorus.

When Normani started the second verse and dropped into the splits, I was Bebe Rehxa and Hailee Steinfeld as seen in the following:

Then Ally went on with her verse before they all passed their mics off to the dancers to start a dance breakdown. Honestly, the dance was not clean at all. But i’m not a fan because of their dancing, I’m a fan of their voices and their personalities.

After the dance breakdown, Gucci came on stage with his own little back up dancer.

The end was epic as they sang the last chorus. Water started pouring down on them and on the last beat, they dropped the mic. Literally and figuratively.

Check out their performance:

Now I’m off to watch Game of Thrones. Have a great week everybody!

New Music Friday: Fifth Harmony

As a self-proclaimed harmonizer, I’ve been patiently waiting for Fifth Harmony’s third studio album. I remember loving them on the X-Factor when they were these 5 teenage girls back in 2012. My favorite performance of theirs was “Anything Could Happen” and at that moment, I felt like that performance was their turning point in the competition.

After finishing off the X-Factor in third place, their EP “Better Together” was released the following year and included their first ever single, “Miss Movin’ On”. It became an anthem for all the young girls getting over a break up.

Now they are all grown up and sans a fifth member. But they are still Fifth Harmony. And I’m still #5HAF.

This time around they are a little less pop and a lot more R&B with a small tinge of hip hop, giving listeners like me a nostalgic vibe going back to Destiny’s Child and Danity Kane.

Let’s take a look at the tracklist for their self-titled album, “Fifth Harmony”:

  1. Down” featuring Gucci ManeTheir self-titled album starts off with “Down“, their first single off the album featuring Gucci Mane. This song is super catchy much like past singles like “Worth It” & “Work From Home”. “Down” is the only record on this album that has a feature and it was quite interesting to me that they got Gucci on it. I guess he’s making a come back. The music breakdown during his verse is my absolute favorite.  The overall message: You got my back, I got yours.
  2. He Like That
Along with the release of their album, 5H released the music video for this record. It’s definitely a lot different from past music videos, but there is no doubt the girls are confident and sexy.  They’re rocking the “pumps and a bump” as they sample the MC Hammer song. The girls have said that this was one of their dirtiest songs and while it’s far from what we’ve heard before, it’s absolutely great.
  3. Sauced UpThis is THE party jam! They’re of age and celebrating their youth just like any 21+ year old should. They’re out to dance the night away and fall in love with the night. It sounds like they’re all down for a good time – good vibes only. No one will ruin it. I’m still sitting here trying to figure out which song is being sampled. It sounds so familiar!
  4. Make You Mad“”I’m gonna make you miss me. I’m gonna make you mad. I’m gonna make sure i’m the best you ever had.” I would say this song is self-explanatory. It insinuates a sexy night out. There’s more of an electronic feel on this track compared to the others.
  5. Deliver“This track sounds a lot like the past Fifth Harmony we’ve heard. It’s between the pop and R&B and gives off that 90s vibe. It feels so familiar and definitely makes you want to get up and jam. They delievered with this song and it’s one of my favorites of the album.
  6.  “Lonely Night“In this track, the girls spell it out for any guy who’s trying to keep a relationship with them. “Get ya shit together,” enough said. You have to be a family man with no girls on the side. If you’re disrespectful, then don’t waste our time. “Lonely Night” is definitely an anthem in the making!
  7. Don’t Say You Love Me“This is another one of my favorites. It seems to be another track that is an ode to past Fifth Harmony sounds. It’s one of the slower tracks, but it’s not exactly a ballad. It is one of those love songs that kicks you right in the feels. They’re in it for the long run, so if you’re not don’t make any promises. Lauren starts the song, “Don’t say you miss me, when you don’t call…” and then Ally ends the song with the lyrics,”Don’t say you love me, unless you do…” and i’m almost in tears. I’m getting major “Who Are You” flashbacks.
  8. Angel“5H delves into the trap/electronic scene with Skrillex and Poo Bear. It’s a great beat and they give zero cares as they perform. They’re not angels and they make sure we know that.
  9. Messy“I don’t know why, but I really love this song. Is it the fact that they sample Shaggy’s “It Wasn’t Me”? Yeah, it’s one reason. It’s another slower track and while I love the music to dance to, I’m a sucker for slower songs because I feel like there’s a lot more feelings. I guess that’s the main reason why this is my favorite. They are pouring out their heart and soul in the lyrics. They admit they aren’t perfect and it’s super vulnerable and beautiful.
  10. Bridges“”Bridges” is the track least like the others. It’s more pop than the rest, but it has the most important message out of all of them, #LoveOverHate. With everything that’s happening in the world, this song of coming together and building “bridges” is something that I would hope will spread positivity amongst all of the negativity in the world.

Overall, Fifth Harmony has proven they can get over hurdles and still conquer in the business that isn’t that great to girl groups. Their sound has matured and it’s great to know that they had control over the making of the album. They are a little more sexy and a little more edgier and I love it because they are embracing their youth. In fact, this is their first album that has an “explicit” label warning!

They have a mix of tracks to dance to and tracks to sing in the shower to. And to me, most importantly, their voices still compliment each other and there’s no one overpowering another. Also, I absolutely love Lauren’s voice.

Now, I realize this review is a bit biased. Believe me, there are songs that i’d skip, but overall I think it’s a great album, especially after all the drama surrounding it.

Anyways, I can’t wait to see them in concert. Yes, I’ll still go see them even though I’m a grown woman. I’ve seen them perform like 5 times and I plan to continue on.

Once I get my CD in the mail, i’ll be popping it into my car like i’ve done with the past albums and I’ll be blasting it. I still have 7/27 in my car stereo!

You can stream the new album on Spotify or Apple Music and download on iTunes!

Top 5: YouTubers!

YouTube can get very addicting. Watching awesome vloggers on YouTube can get extremely addicting, especially when they put out content you love and look forward to. Today’s blog? My favorite YouTubers. I’ve always watched people on YouTube, but I’ve only started really subscribing to YT channels over the past year or so. I usually love to watch lifestyle vlogs and dance videos, so the following people totally deliver.

Matt Steffanina

It took me a while to really get into Matt’s YT channel. I would see his videos floating around Facebook and think, “Wow, these dancers are skilled.” Sometimes I wish I were a skilled dancer. I always wonder if I have what it takes to dance, like REALLY dance to choreo. Then I watch Matt’s videos and his choreo inspires me and gets me hype. He comes out with new videos every week to the latest hits and it’s great to see how he and other dancers he works with, interpret music. The fact that he also has vids that break down some of his pieces is great as well, because it empowers me to attempt to learn dance moves and add my own flavor.

Alex Aiono

This 21-year-old has all the girls swooning after him. And I am no exception. The first video I saw of his was the “One Dance/Hasta El Amanecer” mashup/cover. He sung in Spanish and it was smooth AF. I think that’s when his viewership went up. He’s made so many covers that sound way better than the original. You can tell he’s such a talented musician considering he plays his own instruments and produces the music. Lately, he hasn’t been too active on YouTube, but that’s because he got signed to a record label and is making his own music and touring!

Megan Batoon

I’m not sure how or when I came across Megan’s channel, but it was probably because I saw her doing choreo in another YouTuber’s video. Her channel has a little something for everyone. Aside from awesome dance videos, she does How-To videos, cooking videos, weekly vlogs and one of my favorites, her top 5 fave things of the month. Overall, she just seems super bubbly and upbeat in her videos, you can’t dislike her. If you do dislike her, then I won’t judge you, but I guarantee she’ll make you smile at some point. She’s just her dorky self and that’s so refreshing to see. Some days I find myself watching her older videos that I missed and she just cracks me up.

Dominic “D-Trix” Sandoval

Megan’s older brother! Just kidding, but they always joke about being related. They’re both half filipino and adorable. I’ve been a fan of Dom since his SYTYCD days. He was one of my favorites (I like b-boys 😂) and to this day, he’s still one my favorite dancers. His YouTube channel contains some funny content from parody videos to food challenges to his “Now Add A Dancer” series. He’s also got this one series where he does trick shots. The latest one he’s done was with Oreo cookies and it had me amazed. I just wonder how long it takes for him to film those videos. But aside from all the funny stuff, he has some really sentimental vids that just hit me in the feels, especially knowing who inspired the videos. My absolute fave video will always be this one:

Shay Mitchell

Shay Mitchell did not get her start on YouTube and isn’t technically a famous YouTube star. But she has a channel that I subscribe to and I’m always excited to see what’s next. Shay rose to fame on Pretty Little Liars but she’s one of the few Hollywood celebrities that actually puts out their own content and videos on YouTube. She’s the epitome of a lifestyle vlogger. I’m always looking forward to her “Shaycation” vlogs where she takes us viewers along with her while she’s vacationing in another country or state. However, my absolute favorite videos she posts are the #SendSammy videos. Sammy is her assistant of 3+ years (correct me if I’m wrong) and Shay always sends her off to do random things. It’s hilarious, but you can tell they are having fun and just want to make us laugh. Or else Sammy really does need a raise.

What kind of content do you like to watch on YouTube? Any recommendations on who I should subscribe to?

Music Monday: #OnRepeat

What’s up readers?!

Spotify is my best friend during my work day, my drive home, and when I’m relaxing in the comfort of my own room.

I love most genres of music and you can find me creating/adding different playists to my Spotify queue. I have one playlist in particular where I add newer songs that I can’t stop playing. It’s conveniently called “*****On Repeat.*****”. Note the stars in the name. They help me find the playlist easily when it’s not my Recently Played list.

Today I’d like to share the last six songs added to this list of mine.

“I’ll Find You” Lecrae feat. Tori Kelly

When I first heard this song on the “New Music Friday” playlist many weeks ago, I thought it was so beautiful. I’ve been a fan of Tori Kelly and her angelic voice since her YouTube days, so naturally I was curious to see what new music she had out. Despite not knowing who Lecrae was, I gave it a listen. Around the time this song was released, I was not feeling like myself. As I listened to the lyrics, I felt like it was very encouraging and hope. I felt like it was a reminder I needed. Also, the music video is heartbreaking.

“Attention – Acoustic Version” by Charlie Puth

The original version of this song was on my playlist after it was released in April, but if you know me, you know I’m a sucker for anything acoustic. I’m also a sucker for songs by Charlie Puth. In my opinion, he’s a great song writer and knows how to portray exactly what he’s feeling. Now when I first heard this song, I immediately though it was about his drama with Bella Thorne, bur he says it’s inspired by something he saw on IG. What a coincidence. Anyways, the song is super catchy and there’s so much shade.

“Hear Me” by DJ Luane & Mecha feat. Rhian Ramos

I have a love for Rhian Ramos, so naturally I’m here to support her. When this song was released I was super excited to hear it since it was Rhian’s first single. It was an unexpected release, but I knew she was working on something huge for herself and her fans. I was very proud of what I heard. Her voice suits this song and it’s much more sweeter knowing she’s worked hard to put some music out there. This song definitely has me bobbing my head and dancing a lot to it whenever it comes on. I can’t wait to hear what’s next.

“Wild Thoughts” by DJ Khaled feat. Rihanna & Bryson Tiller

I’m in love with this song. I love that DJ Khaled sampled the Santana song, “Maria Maria” because I fell in love to the sounds of the guitar played by Carlos Santana. The song is super sexy, I’m sure everyone has wild thoughts about it. Okay, I’ll stop. There was a week where this song was literally on repeat that I even browsed YouTube videos of choreography to this song.

“Nobody Has to Know” by Timeflies

This isn’t the only Timeflies song on this playlist, but it’s the latest. These guys know the way to my heart with the cutest lyrics. I’m sure they weren’t going for cute, but they got me feeling all kinds of butterflies. Apparently this song was released on their YouTube channel back in February just in time for the lovers on Valentine’s Day. But it was just released on Spotify last week! The piano & the beat are perfect since it’s not really a super sappy love song. Ya’ll have to know about this song!

“Back to You” by Louis Tomlinson feat. Bebe Rehxa & Cheat Codes

Soo if I had a favorite One Direction member it would have been Louis Tomlinson. Some people judge me for that, but I thought he was the cutest, plus I didn’t have to fight much with friends about it since they loved Harry or Zayn. Anyways, it’s great seeing them doing their own things. Louis wrote a lot of 1D songs and continues to write music. I think he’s so underrated. But then again I don’t know much about him. Honestly, I didn’t really care for his first song with Steve Aoki, but this song is fire. The beat is fun and upbeat, you almost forget that it’s about a toxic relationship. It was the latest song added to my playlist and it will be on repeat for the next few days/weeks!

Bonus round: A song that’s not on this playlist, but on repeat is “Two Less Lonely People in the World” by Air Supply. I don’t know how or why I had the urge to listen to Air Supply/this song, but I’ve been belting on car rides and in the shower. I don’t even have feelings right now, but it just keeps me on my toes. I even turned on my magic mic (karaoke) a few times just to sing about two less lonely people in the world.

What new songs are on your “on repeat” playlist?
