Now Watching: 5 Moments That Made Me Emotional On Last Night’s Game Of Thrones Finale

It’s clear that many fans were very unhappy with last night’s series finale of Game of Thrones. But all things must come to an end and not everyone can get a happy ending.

As for me, I didn’t hate it, but I also didn’t love it. I felt like there should have been more to the story or even a bit more time to process everything that went on this season. Either way, the episode definitely had moments that got me in my feelings. *Photos via DigitalSpy and belong to HBO*

Tyrion and his siblings

Obviously, the aftermath of last week’s episode was eerie. I can’t even imagine how Tyrion felt walking through it all. What got me was that he didn’t immediately go looking for Daenerys. He went straight to the Red Keep and the tunnels that led out of it. He needed to know if his brother and sister made it out alive.

At that moment when Tyrion saw Jamie’s gold hand underneath all the rubble, I felt the heartbreak. This scene moved me more than the duo’s impending death from last week. Despite everything he’s went through with his siblings, Tyrion’s grief was real. I felt it.

Jon kills his Queen/aunt/love

I knew this scene was coming from unconfirmed spoilers and Twitter. I’m not sure if I was less emotional because of this, but I do know that I will always love Dany and Jon. And if I took a shot every time Jon proclaimed that Daenerys was his Queen, the hangover would have been insane. I loved their stories, both as individuals and together. Two heroes, who find each other and fall in love amidst the chaos. Sadly, it was a tragic ending.

As Dany approached the Iron Throne and reminisced about her childhood and finally getting what she’s longed for, I wonder how Jon ever got the courage to do what he did. It was heartbreaking as Jon professed his love one final time before betraying his Queen. Daenerys has had one goal her entire life – to become Queen. Jon’s goal was to always do the right thing. Both goals cost them their love for each other. “Duty is the death of love.”

Drogon set the throne on fire.

Daenerys will always be one of my favorite characters. She has always been such a bad ass and while she’s done a few questionable things this season, this was not the ending I pictured for her.

game-of-thrones-season-finale-drogon-daenerys-1558351317

Drogon lost his brothers and now, his mother. As he nudged Daenerys, it was such a heartbreaking moment because Dany was all he had. I honestly thought that Drogon would attempt to burn his cousin Jon or simply rip him apart, but he somehow understood that the throne was Dany’s downfall. After everything that was lost, the iron throne was included with her ending and Drogon made sure of it.

Jon and Arya’s Goodbye.

I always loved the relationship between Jon and Arya. Jon has always been one of Arya’s biggest supporters and Arya always looked up to Jon. They bonded over the fact that they were both “black sheep” of the family.

When Jon was leaving to go back to the Night’s Watch, I felt their goodbye was the most heartfelt because of their close relationship. With their different paths, it almost felt like they were never going to see each other again. I hope both find happiness west of Westeros and North of the wall.

The Stark family montage.

I have two things to say:

1) Sansa is the Queen in the North and Margaery Tyrell would have been proud. Sansa isn’t that little bird anymore and it shows. I’m actually extremely happy about Sansa’a character development. I remember hating her attitude in the beginning, but I grew to love her and what she stood for.

2) Bran knew he was going to be King of the Six Kingdoms and let all those innocents die. Would things have changed either way? I don’t know, but Brandon Stark is shady AF.

Bonus: The iconic dragon wings shot

giphy-downsized

Dany conquered King’s landing and Drogon was 100% behind her. Literally. The cinematography was perfect. Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms, the Mother of Dragons, the Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, the Unburnt, the Breaker of Chains, rose from the ashes. She was that bitch and did not regret anything.

Now Watching: Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists “Lost and Found” | 1×6 Recap

Tonight’s episode kicked off right where it ended. Caitlin was rushed to the hospital, as her two friends were on edge knowing that Mason could possibly still be around watching them.

But the show must go on if Ava wants to get her Vogue internship. As she puts her final touches on the fashion show, she gets some help from Ali and a new character who absolutely despises her – or moreso what her dad did to his family.

Dylan and Ava get word that Caitlin is awake, but Dana is annoying AF and they can’t get anywhere near her to talk to her. Turns out the Senator (aka Caitlin’s mom) is visiting which explains the high security. Caitlin confronts her mom about her cheating and she wants her to turn a cheek and keep it from her other mother. That’s such a bad position to put your daughter in!

While Alison does real faculty stuff, Mona takes on the duty of finding Taylor at the camper. Taylor isn’t there, but Mona decides to stick around the camper. Good thing she does, because she finds Taylor’s secret Beacon Guard program. Mona, the perfect hacker that she is, finds that the little system can find the location of students and faculty.

Alison and her instincts find Taylor at the cemetery. Of course she would. After warning her to stay back, she somehow convinces Taylor to trust her mom and show her that she’s alive. Claire is shocked, but it turns to be a happy reunion.

Since the road where Caitlin was hit was closed for the day, Ava and Dylan make it a mission to search for Mason’s phone at night before the fashion show. Ava falls into the sewers and Dylan follows. They are met by something creeping around only to meet Dana Booker at the end of the tunnel who was Mason’s phone. The phone proved the opposite of what they hoped. He was at a crew party, the night of Nolan’s death. I wanted to slap the smug look off of Dana’s face, tbh.

Navigating through Taylor’s Beacon Guard, Mona sees that Mason is in Beacon Heights earlier than expected. It proves to be accurate as he pays a visit to Caitlin. But he does something unexpected and apologizes, “Being Nolan is not who I am.” Mason claims he was only Nolan’s insurance policy. But it would be too easy if Mason was the killer.

Dylan has an epiphany and thinks the person torturing them isn’t the killer, but someone who thinks they killed Nolan. Their new target is Dana Booker. Good luck with that!

The final scene brings us back to Mona in Taylor’s camper. It seems someone is at Mona’s apartment and that someone is the deceased Nolan Hotchkiss.

Now Watching: Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists “The Patchwork Girl”| 1×5 Recap

Last week, secrets spilled and people in hiding were found.

After invading Taylor’s space, Alison is taken on a little joyride to the middle of nowhere. Taylor freaks and reveals that she faked her suicide because someone was trying to kill her. With Alison finding her in the woods, she’s in danger and I wouldn’t doubt it.

On the other side of town, Mona learns about Ray Hogadorn and how he sees and knows everything. He’s like the Oz of Beacon Heights. He knows that someone was after Taylor and warns to keep her away since he sent her the first warning on the wall we saw a few episodes prior.

Despite all the drama, there is one thing that is keeping Ava’s hopeful – the fact that her dad may be around and trying to communicate with her. Last week, she received a music box and this week she received a secret note addressed to her in a way that only her dad knows. She later gets a call with an unknown number playing a message indicating the time to meet.

In an attempt to disassociate herself with the Nolan case, Ava devises a plan to drug Mason and get a confession out of him. As she proposes the plan, Caitlin is willing to help to apologize for what she did, while Dylan is hesitant because there is too much to risk, especially with his audition later that night.

Back in the woods, Taylor reveals that her mother, Claire, used Mona’s program to bring Alison to BHU. Claire was confident that Alison, would lead her to Taylor because of their similarities. Alison tries to convince Taylor to trust her just like Nolan did. Eventually, Taylor gives in and goes back home. I still can’t wait to figure out who has a vendetta for the Hotchkiss family.

Later that night, the Caitlin and Dylan meet at the cabin to prepare for Mason. Ava is late to the party as she has a tech rehearsal for her fashion show. An unexpected slide comes on the projector with a revealing photo of Dylan and Nolan. Ava is pissed to say the least. The trio argue and Ava wants to get the confession done and be done with the other two. The other two begin to hesitate and back out, but they’re already in too deep.

Mona spends her day trying to get a hold of Alison and is rudely interrupted by Dana Booker. She asks why Alison is protecting the three students and finds it strange that she seemed to do the same back in Rosewood – referring to her being the leader of the pack with people dependent on her. But while Dana Booker did her research, so did Mona and she did not hold back on why the former FBI Detective was fired.

After Alison brings Taylor home, she finally gets Mona’s text, “If you found her, don’t come back.” Was it an exaggeration? Not according to Ray Hogadorn. Ali gives in to Mona, but doesn’t find any sign of Taylor when she goes to wake her up. Either someone found her, or Taylor still doesn’t trust Alison.

Mason doesn’t show up to the cabin on time, so Ava and Dylan bail. But with perfect time, Mason texts Caitlin he’s on the way after they leave. Mason denies the whiskey because of a team pact, but Caitlin improvises. Caitlin somehow gets him to leave to get firewood and when he returns, she sees this as an opportunity to knock him over the head and steal his phone.

Ava goes back to her personal drama and follows the clues her dad allegedly left for her, only to find that Dana Booker played her. “You tell me all about who killed Nolan, we can forget about the past,” Dana proposes. Ava’s smarter than that, though.

The last scene finds us with Caitlin trying to gain Ava and Dylan’s trust with what she did to Mason. They meet at the old road and while Ava is on the way, someone cuts her off and meets the other two first. It was quite a quick meeting when the unknown driver hit Caitlin with their car.

To be honest, I’m gonna be mad if Mason has nothing to do with anything.

TLDR:

  • Ava’s got trust issues and it shows. I don’t blame her.
  • Alison somehow convinces Taylor to come home even though someone’s trying to kill her
  • Dana Booker likes to stick her nose into other people’s business.

Now Watching: You 1×3 | “Maybe” | Recap

Last week on You, Joe went on his first date with Beck and finally got rid of the man in the middle, Benji. Joe doesn’t realize that he’s not good enough for Beck either, especially considering the circumstances.

Things between Joe and Beck are going smoothly as they walk hand in hand getting to know each other. Beck confesses her forever movie is Pretty In Pink and Joe eats it up during his inner monologue – typical. When Beck asks about his ex Candice, he has the perfect answer. Now I really want to know. His inner monologue continues as he watches Beck walk to her apartment and he remembers he has to get rid of the body he left in the bookstore basement.

He’s still keeping appearances on social media to make it seem that Benji is just partying hard and everyone believes it. But other than that, Joe has no idea what he’s doing. He can’t just Google it. He has to be smart about it, but his stomach can’t handle it.

Beck meets with her girlfriends later in the day recapping her new TA position and her Tinder hookup from the night before. Little does she know, Joe is sitting at the bar eavesdropping. “Joe’s still a maybe,” she says out loud, while Peach rolls her eyes and Joe stresses TF out. Both Joe and Peach don’t want to see Beck hooking up with other people. But Joe still watches from across the street as Beck bangs the barista.

The Tinder news is the push Joe needs to finally get the guts to get rid of Benjie. But it’s said when he gets young Paco to get a few items: potassium nitrate, six rolls of duct tape, fire starter, twine, burlap, wood stamps, tarp, and potting soil. Science project?

While Paco gets the stuff, Joe takes the time to go on a shopping spree with Beck. She thinks he has such perfect timing. Joe almost slips up again when he states that her bedroom isn’t big enough to fit a king sized bed. But again, he’s quick on his feet. And quick to go down. They have a moment on a bed in a shop as Beck feels unremarkable which leads to a make out sesh, that is quickly shot down when they are almost caught having oral sex in public. Beck’s not in the mood and Joe stops thinking about it when the electricity goes down at the bookstore.

It’s time for Joe to finally suck it up and get rid of the body. But not before heading to Beck’s to help with her new bed. Beck then reveals why she didn’t enjoy that public display of affection. She likes Joe…actually likes him. And I hate the fact that I think this scene is cute. Joe gets Beck to open up and finally hears her story about her Dad and his red ladle. The red ladle symbolizes happy times with her father, not the perverted story Benji had up his sleeve.

Things start to get heated, but Peach has perfect timing with some bladder issues, showing up unannounced. Joe drives them to the ER, but Peach can’t stand the smell. Makes sense considering there is a dead body. Later on, Peach recovers at the hospital and Beck thinks it’s the right time to ask her what she thinks about Joe. She does not approve, especially due to his financial situation. That’s shallow, but we all know Peach just loves Beck.

As Joe returns home to finish his job, he’s met by the police and Paco’s step dad, Ron. He found the list, but Joe was prepared with a secret garden. Ron explains that he was a parole office and he has a bad feeling about Joe, but only proves that his relationship with his girlfriend’s son is a bit estranged as he yells at Paco.

Joe FINALLY gets some time to rid the world of Benji, but Beck decides to call to continue their little bed party. Unfortunately, he’s a little too distracted especially when two people are walking in the woods at night. The pressure gets to him and he has a little word vomit, practically yelling at Beck for giving him mixed signals. He hangs up in a rush, sets the body on fire and invites the hikers to join his bonfire. Lucky for him, they decline.

Joe’s a little heartbroken when Beck ignores his calls. But she had better things to worry about like her poem piece for her TA workshop, which she didn’t even get a chance to read. Beck was then inspired to open up again. “If i’m sending mixed messages, it’s because I don’t know who I am, so how am I supposed to know what I want?,” Beck confesses. Same, Beck, same. Then she goes on a spiel about not knowing anything about Joe or his friends. He’s so willing to let her in on who Joe is, he invites her to the downstairs basement. And I’m screaming at Beck to not go down there!

The mysterious bookkeeper explains what they keep in the basement and I’m having deja vu considering this is the same exact thing he said to Paco. I’m sure he’s going to keep out the fact that he also keeps dead bodies.  He may even have “Ozma of Oz” down there, which Peach later notices is missing. Beck deletes Tinder and all is well in the Joe/Beck world, until Joe finishes in less than 15 seconds.

How is this show so funny, cute, thrilling, and disturbing at the same time?

What’s in my Netflix queue? (Part One)

I used to watch a lot of television. Keyword(s): used to. I’d get excited for new shows and new seasons every Fall that I would create a little spreadsheet/calendar of premiere dates.  I would typically stay on top of my shows and never really have to catch up.

I still watch a lot of television. But i’m so behind on my former favorite shows. Plus, I hate watching TV in the presence of other people. I’m anti-social like that. And I have no wifi.

The only show that I love and stayed caught up on was Pretty Little Liars and currently Game of Thrones and The Bold Type.

I’d like to catch up on shows before the new seasons start.  However, I feel like I have a long way to go, especially since my Netflix queue is all over the place. Let’s take a look…

THE TOP 5. These series are a few of my all time favorite shows. Sadly all of them are done, but I’m ready to binge watch.

Glee ended two years ago. I still listen to the soundtracks and see each performance in my head. It gave me life then and it still gives me life now. I miss seeing those kids every week. I need to hear them singing new songs and covers.

Pretty Little Liars just ended back in June. I tried binge watching all the eps before the finale, but that just didn’t work out. 160 episodes to watch in two weeks was pretty impossible. But it was so nostalgic watching the pilot compared to the last few episodes. The finale was an ode to the fans.

Gossip Girl came back on my radar when two of my favorite Filipino actresses revealed they was rewatching episodes. The pilot episode gave me so many feels, but I’m still mad at how it ended.

One Tree Hill had Chad Michael Murray and Sophia Bush, two people I love. Unfortunately, I still need to catch up on OTH. I don’t remember ever finishing the last 2 seasons. But I did watch the finale.

The Secret Circle will always be the one that got away. When I heard of this cancellation, I was devastated. The first season left us with such a cliffhanger! I legit cried and I even participated in signing those petitions and tweeting #SaveTheCircle. Out of all the CW cancellations, this was the one that disappointed me the most. #WitchesRule

THE FAVES I NEED TO CATCH UP ON. These shows have new seasons coming soon and some even their last!

The Originals. I watched TVD to watch Phoebe Tonkin kick ass as a werewolf (She was on the Secret Circle). Then she got her own show with the Original vampire family, so I had to watch it. However, I think I stopped during season 2 or 3. It’s 5th and final season is premiering this Fall and I may wait and just binge watch after it’s done.

Once Upon A Time has many changes in the new season this fall, with several main characters leaving. There are so many twists and turns on our favorite fairytales. I’m curious to see how it goes without it’s main heroine and family, but I have to catch up on about 1 and a half seasons. But since it’s sort of a reboot maybe I don’t have to catch up…

How to Get Away with Murder. I’m on the season where they focus on “Who shot Analise?” That’s season 2 I think? HTGAWM makes me think too much. At first it was confusing with all the flashbacks, but I started to understand more and it sucked me in. In fact, it’s the only show in Shondaland I ever got into.

Orange is the New Black doesn’t have a new season coming out anytime soon, so I have a lot of time to catch up. This past season is pretty good so far. There’s so much chaos amongst the inmate takeover, I can’t wait to see who survives it.

THE SHOWS ABOUT THE SUPERHEROES. Smallville was my favorite show growing up, so to see the following shows make such an impact on their audiences is pretty amazing.

To be honest, I need to catch up a lot on these shows. I might as well start from the beginning.

Supergirl. As a fan of Superman, I was so excited for this show. I was so excited to see Supergirl’s story, not just Superman’s cousin. Honestly, when they brought Superman on the show (Tyler Hoechlin), I was kind of pissed and scared that he would outshine Kara. But anyways, Kara and her friends felt relatable. She wasn’t just this alien, she was a girl trying to figure out what she wanted in life. Also, as a Gleek, Melissa Benoist made me proud.

The Flash. I didn’t know much about Barry Gordon, other than what I saw on Smallville. I still don’t know much about him, but Grant Gustin is a dork and how can you not fall in love with him.

Arrow. Just like the Flash, the only Oliver Queen I knew was played by Justin Hartley, and I loved him. I didn’t know Stephen Amell, but I knew Katie Cassidy and I wanted to support one of my favorite CW actresses. But I fell in love with the drama and the action. What can I say? I love the brooding guys that come out of their shell. Am I talking about the right show?

Gotham. I never finished season one, but I liked what I saw in the first few episodes. We’re all used to seeing grown up, broody Batman, but in contrast, we see the future Batman as an innocent little boy who just lost his parents. However, we do see some brooding from Benjamin McKenzie. Oh how I missed that.

This isn’t my whole Netflix queue, but it’s the ones that are on the top of my list! Stay tuned for more of my list and maybe we can watch together.

xoxo,

Adele
