Aria gets a prize! (A PLL Recap 7×17 “Driving Miss Crazy”)

Tonight’s episode starts off on a light note with Ezria having dance lessons in preparation for their wedding. Seeing Ezra and his awkwardness dancing was adorable. But then the moment gets ruined by Wesley Fitzgerald and a certain stalker that goes by the name of A.D. A.D. reminds Aria that it’s her turn again to play the game for the dark side.

After losing some crucial evidence in the hotel flood, Detective Furey decides to visit Hanna and Caleb. He obviously suspects that Caleb is involved and implies that he has some other compelling evidence that could help in the investigation of Archer Dunhill’s murder. In true Hanna fashion, she panics.

And by panic, Hanna decides it’s time to keep playing the game. Hanna, don’t you know it’s not up to you? My favorite blonde also decides that it’s time to reveal to the others that Mona knows about the game. The girls are not happy, but Mona doesn’t want her life in their hands. I agree, especially with how sloppy Aria is being at the moment.

It’s not Hanna’s turn and it’s definitely not Mona’s either. This week it’s Aria’s turn again, but for the wrong side. A.D. wants to stir up some drama with the Hastings clan. Her mission? Drop off a cellphone in a moving box and make sure an incriminating recording of Peter and Mary Drake plays over the Hastings’ sound system.  She succeeds, but again she was not slick at all. The recording conveniently plays right after she leaves the residence. I’m sure Spencer is smart enough to figure it out later on. Also, Peter freaks out.

In what I believe is an attempt to get on the girls’ good side, Mona found the fertility doctor involved with the Emison baby. She spends some time with Emily to interrogate the doctor who doesn’t budge at first, but after the two find some evidence questioning his doctorate, he later gives them the donor patient ID.

Hanna tries to make her own moves to find out what Detective Furey may have on her. As she snoops around the old stomping grounds, she finds out that the shovels were confiscated. Could this be the evidence Detective Furey has?

Tables have turned on the Ezria front. In the first few episodes, we see that Aria is more concerned about the wedding and Ezra is off in another world. However, now that the Nicole thing is behind him, Ezra is focused on making Aria the happiest fiance in the world. Ezra can tell that Aria is having doubts about their relationship, but it’s definitely not the reason he thinks.

All roads lead back to Spencer, at least that’s what Detective Furey feels. He questions her outside her house and brings up the short lived Spaleb relationship. He even accuses Spencer of flirting with him to have a cop on her side. Um, excuse me, that’s what Toby is there for. But Spencer holds her ground…

…That is until Mary Drake surprises us all as she hides in the backseat of Spencer’s car and demands that she drives to the Lost Woods resort. She tells her side of the story: Jessica and Peter were planning to kill Mary Drake, but she intercepted the pills. Mary Drake mutters something about doing anything to save yourself and suggests that Spencer leaves with her.

After Hanna’s little shovel mission and detailing Lucas’ car, she comes home to find her mom, Ashley, is back! Ashley is worried about Hanna and questions why Caleb came back into Hanna’s life. Caleb makes a huge speech about his love for Hanna and at this point, I’m tearing up. Haleb is getting married and later on in the episode, they recreate their first time. I’m in tears.

The episode then transitions into the PLL musical we always wanted. Sadly, it’s just a dream. Mona singing “Jailhouse Rock” is a dream, but then the whole thing is really a nightmare because Aria is having her wedding with a beat up Ezra in jail. And Mrs. Hastings is the officiant, but she is quite harsh. The pressure is getting to Aria and I can’t wait till it all blows up on her. Am I being harsh?

Back at the Hastings’ household, Spencer finds her mom and dad with Mary Drake’s letter. Peter is angry yet again and he tries to justify what he planned to do to Mary Drake with Jessica.”If someone continually threatened you Spencer, I don’t think you’d do any different,” he yells before storming out. If only you knew, Peter, if only you knew. Veronica stays calm during the whole thing and reveals that she will not be taking her seat in the Senate because of Peter’s mistake. Family over everything, right? BUT all that packing was for nothing!

Veronica’s decision seems to convince Spencer that it’s not a good idea to leave with Mary Drake. Her biological mother takes the news oddly well, but as Spencer walks away from the Lost Woods, she hears that someone was watching them. My guess is Detective Furey!

For Aria’s success in planting the #HastingsBomb, she gets puzzle pieces. Mona sees her and I have two thoughts. 1) She planted those pieces or 2) She’s about to expose Aria and all the things she’s done to betray the other girls. A part of me wants it to be option 2 over anything else.

Aria sneaks into Alison’s and puts the puzzle pieces together on the game board. She gets a message from A.D. that the grand prize is right behind her and it’s exactly what Aria wanted, the report on Ezra. First of all, why you chillin’ in a black hoodie? And don’t you think A.D. has copies of that thing everywhere?

The final scene brings us to Mona’s. Emily is outside her door and wants her to check out the burner phone that was left at Spencer’s, but also wants to discuss the donor ID. Clearly, Emily is warming up to the fact that Mona is going to help them play the game, but Mona is too tired to care at the moment. Or so she says. Mona is obviously hiding something and shoos Emily away. Once she makes sure Emily is gone, she goes straight to her computer and the camera pans away to reveal some detailed research on the game and the girls. Looks like another lair has come to fruition and not only that! Mona has the shovels!

We’re down to the last 3 episodes. I’m getting emotional just thinking about it!

It’s Playtime on Pretty Little Liars! (Spring premiere recap)

If you’re a PLL fan like me, you’ve been waiting for this premiere since August 30, 2016 where we were left with questions and accidents galore all around. But if you are also like me, you are dreading the fact that this is the first of the final ten episodes of Pretty Little Liars. How will we spend our Tuesday nights after June 20, 2017?

The episode starts off right where we left off. After being shot by Jenna, Spencer is rushed to the hospital. It was quite ironic when the paramedic asked Spencer what her mother’s name was. I mean, Mary Drake spilled a huge bombshell – with that and the overall shock of being shot, it was definitely not an easy question for Spencer to answer. As the girls watch on, they discover that Toby was in an accident too.

And then we fast forward one week later. Toby isn’t dead! Keegan Allen did a lot of trolling after that last episode making everyone think that Toby was gone. I even cried. What a jerk (lol jk). While both Toby and Spencer made it out alive, Yvonne is stuck in a coma and as a reminder Noel Kahn won’t be coming back at all.

We get little glimpses of each of the girls and their relationship woes. While i’m ready to see which pairs will be endgame, i’m more concerned about the game A.D. wants to play because the girls soon figure out that Noel and Jenna are not who they are looking for.

A.D. sent Spencer a little get well present and gave her the task of gathering the others to have a little game night. A.D. actully came up with quite the elaborate game board – a replica of the little town of Rosewood. I wouldn’t want to play, but I would want to own it. They seem to agree they don’t have time to play games and most of them attempt to go back to a normal life. Yeah, like that would ever happen.

Spencer, however gets a little push to keep finding out who A.D. is. Detective Furey shows her some evidence that pretty much reveals there were two shooters that awful night she was shot. In addition to that news, Mrs. Hastings comes home and doesn’t deny Mary Drake’s confession. The scene between Veronica and Spencer was a bit heartbreaking and everything Spencer thought she knew was shattered.

After a little text from A.D. and a little curiousity, Spencer is the first to start playing. It begins with a game of “Truth or Dare” and she’s a little daredevil. The game seems to start out easy because Spencer’s dared to visit a certain ex-boyfriend. Her prize? A puzzle piece and a letter written by Mary Drake when she was a baby.

The rest of the girls aren’t too happy with Spencer playing without them. Hanna even wants to destroy the game, but A.D. is watching and starts playing the video of them burying Elliot. And that’s enough for them to keep playing. Winner takes all..

The final scene leaves us with Jenna who was kidnapped by A.D. A.D. drops some papers on her lap and Jenna smiles as she reads about the endgame A.D. has for the pretty little liars.

Other noteworthy things :

  • Ezra’s home and hasn’t told Nicole about Aria, which causes Aria to worry about their pending wedding
  • Alison still holds a grudge against Paige. Is it jealousy involving Emily?
  • Paige is still shady AF.
  • Holden’s back and he’s involved in Ezria’s wedding planning. #awkward
  • Mona and Hanna are still #FriendshipGoals…sometimes.
  • I think it’s safe to say that Haleb is endgame ❤

My question is, who’s turn is it next? And what kind of truth (or dares) will we see? I’m waiting for someone to say “Do Not Pass Go…”
